Raelin's mind was racing as he activated his lightsaber.

I have some replanning to do. He's using one saber now. Time for test strikes.

Raelin lashed out at Ronin's side and then stabbed at his leg. Both moves were effectivly blocked by Ronin. Raelin made a few more moves towards Ronin's head, arms and feet. Every attack he made, Ronin blocked. Then, Raelin felt the force around him feeling the aura that emanted from his opponent.

He's on the defensive. He really knows how to block. But let's see what he does under pressure.

Raelin decided to use his saber style. His attacks became much faster and more aggressive. Ronin was heavily on the defensive blocking attacks in rapid succession.

Man, this guy can block. He's deflected even my most complex moves. Under pressure he becomes harder and harder to hit. But everyone cracks eventually.

Raelin slowly gathered a large amount of force in his palm and aimed his lightsaber to strike at Ronin's side. His opponent easily blocked it and caught Raelin's saber. Then Raelin twisted his wrist, bring his and his opponent's saber into a lock. Then using the Force stored up in his palm, unleashed a massive force push that sent Ronin crashing into the arena wall.

Raelin watched as his opponent fell to the ground and felt a wave of guilt.

I shouldn't have done that. I got caught up and went too far.

When Ronin did not rise, Raelin was alarmed. He was about to run to get help when he saw Ronin rising, annoyance writ large on his face.

Ronin rose, in quite a daze. He's really good... ow... well, looks like it's my turn for offense!

Ronin drew and activated his second lightsaber, which was now flickering between red and orange, but never quite one or the other. He began a series of attacks that varied between missing completely and nearly hitting Raelin, but he appeared just as capable on defense as on offense. Ronin deactivated his orange-red lightsaber and instead used two handed strikes with only the silver saber, which was slightly more successful but he was still unable to land a blow.

Eventually he stopped, panting, and said, "I think... we're pretty even. Neither of us can really get a hit in... wanna call it a draw?"

[Nils]

Small beads of sweat had just begun to form on Raelin's nose when Ronin proposed a truce. Heck, he almost had me going when he pulled out his other saber.

He smiled and deactivated his saber.

"You're pretty good." said Raelin holding out his hand. They shook hands and turned once again to watch Alethar and Skyler. The two were STILL fighting and were panting like dogs. Neither seemed to be getting the upper hand.

Then Raelin turned to Ronin and asked, "What's with your other lightsaber? It keeps flashing red and orange."

[Rennac]

Alethar, aching all over from his constant fighting, saw a small lapse in Skyler's concentration as they faced each other after the last flurry of blows. Alethar mustered his last reserves of energy, and dashed at Skyler, utilizing a special wrist flick he had read about in one of the old tomes to bat his saber away. He then slashed at Skyler, his saber stopping right above his collarbone. As he deactivated his sabers, he stammered, "Y... You fought w... well..." then collapsed onto one knee, as his concentration broke and the newly felt pain rushed all over his body.

[Nils]

Raelin watched Alethar fall to his knees and ran over and helped him stand up.

"Are you all right? I know you were fighting well but you shouldn't have pushed yourself that far. Its only training you know."

[Rennac]

"Ah... Thank you." Alethar said, standing slowly up. "I know I push myself too hard... However, that is the way of my people. We are driven to succeed or die trying... I choose to channel that drive into the utter destruction of the Sith." He then looked back at the person who had helped him up, asking, "You are... Raelin? I think I recognize you from when we made our sabers... Who's that other guy?" Alethar asked, looking over at the man who had been sparring with Raelin.

[Nils]

"That's Ronin." answered Raelin.
"Can you still go back to your dorm to rest? If you want I can help you get over there." asked Raelin concerned.

[Rennac]

"Ah, no, I'm fine. Be right as rain in the morning. You two should probably get some rest too, we've got our big mission tomorrow." As Alethar walked away, with a glance over his shoulder, he said, "Oh... Ronin? You should probably get that checked out, don't want any problems during the mission."


((Aaaand that's a wrap folks. Seems Dath isn't here actively, so I'm assuming that you two want to finish this up and start the real mission?))

(According to Dath's first post people are to be CHOSEN to go on the mission. Maybe that's part of the story?)

Raelin watched as Alethar walked wearily out of the arena.
He turned to Ronin and said,

"Is there something wrong with your other saber? If there is something wrong I can fix it for you."

[Rennac]

((Well, wouldn't it make sense for us three to be chosen? If Dath's not here, I could run this RP indefinitely until he comes back.))

[Nils]

(All right so the people going are Raelin, Alethar, Skyler and Ronin? That's fine but are their masters going?)

[Rennac]

((First, use these double parenthesis when posting out of character. Second, I figure that it would be one senior master going. Let's just say it's Skyler's master, for the sake of continuity.))

(Sorry I haven't been active lately)

"This thing? I think it's partly broken. Barely even remember how I got it... Oh yeah. There was this Sith guy I helped my master beat during my training, and he died, so I decided it'd kinda be a waste to leave his lightsaber there, so I kept it for a backup. I didn't wanna give a bad first impression with a red lightsaber, though, so I tried to make it turn orange. It didn't really work out as I planned, but I guess it's better than nothing."

"When do we go, anyways?"

[Nils]

(@ Rennac, we'll just get Raelin's and Skyler's masters to go.)

"We leave tomorrow afternoon, I think." said Raelin.

"Do you want me to fix your saber for you? Just tell me the color and I'll fix it."

[Rennac]

((Great. Dath told me that I could just roleplay his character, because he has exams or something.))

Skyler walked down the hall to his Master's room, wondering who would be going along with him on the mission. As he opened the door, his master said, "Ah, Skyler, I've been expecting you. The council's finally decided who's going with you. Turns out I'm only one of two Masters going, but I've gone on a couple of missions with the other. He's quite a good master, probably more skilled then me." Skyler smiled and said, "I doubt it, Master."
His Master grinned, then brought up a hologram showing the other students going. He recognized them all, seeing the only nonhuman one as the one he'd been sparring, and the other two as the pair who came in in the middle of their duel. Turns out one of them, a human named Raelin's master would be the other one going.

[Dave Strider]

"it's supposed to be Gold to match the Silver. At least that's what I tried... but it only went halfway."

[Nils]

"Gold huh?" pondered Raelin.

"Could you lend me your saber until tomorrow? I think I could fix it."

[Dave Strider]

"No problem. Make sure you don't forget it somewhere, though... that'd be bad."

[Nils]

"Yeah it would." said Raelin grinning.

He left the arena and went to his dorm and opened his drawer, which was filled with lightsaber crystals that he had found in the junkyards.

He picked out a yellow and orange saber crystal. He activated his lightsaber and neatly cut both crystals in half. He opened Ronin's saber and the red crystal tumbled out.

He picked it up, looked at it admiringly and put it in his drawer. Raelin slipped the two halves of the crystal into Ronin's saber. He locked the saber together and activated it. A goldenrod blade erupted from the saber.

I guess that should do. I better find Ronin.

Raelin met Raelin outside the dorms.

"Here you go. That's the closest I could get to a gold saber."

Alethar sat on his bed, meditating to speed the healing process. He checked his sabers and emergency provisions, and everything seemed right. As he felt the last of his bruises shrink and disappear, he lay down, thinking about what his first real mission must be like.
