Obama's Presidency

There isn't much else I can say that isn't agreeing with someone else here, but I will say that being a Christian does not bar me from believing that homosexuals have their rights too. My mother would kill me if she heard me say that, though. XD
In my eyes, discrimination is wrong. There's nothing more to it. Discriminating against any particular group for something they can't help is beyond idiotic and goes into the realm of unforgivable.

Anyways, the legislation has gone back for a revote after they managed to find something minor that needs changing.
And no, some people are happy. You'll just find that there's no middle ground, and whoever owns each media corporation is pushing their idea of 'everyone' being unhappy or not.

Let's face it, if you were against him then, you're still against him now, for pretty similar reasons. And of course, the other side will never agree. There's a very small amount of people who will take the middle ground, so eh.
At least people haven't tried the 'you're not from the US so you don't know what you're talking about' argument again. Like politics isn't the same backstabbing BS it is in every other democracy.

@Dan: Being a bisexual Atheist, I obviously don't believe in God, but if I did I would think that he would love all his children no matter their sexuality. Most LGBT people were born that way, and if God created them, then why would he make them that way? If God hates gay people for being gay then wouldn't that be called discrimination? For it being unnatural, are you just going to ignore the roughly 400 million LGBT people in the world and deny them of basic marriage rights? If you say that they're going to Hell, why do you care? It's their choice. |
Yes I am going to reference the Bible, it's only necessary since I am discussing religion.
Leviticus 20:13 states that if 'a man lies with a man as he lies with a woman, he has committed an abomination, he shall surely be put to death'.
Also, God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their way of life.
It's viewed as sinful, and many people still hold true to that opinion. There's tolerant people, who don't go around trying to persecute them, and then there's rednecks.

LBGT people aren't much different from straight people, the only difference is that they are attracted to their same( or both) gender/s. If I were the smartest person in the world and saved 3 billion people from being tortured to death. But if I just so happened to be gay, would that make me a bad person and make God hate me? That makes no sense, because doesn't God love all his Children? I'm pretty sure you're referring to the old testament too, I'm 99% sure the new testament says nothing bad about Gays. Even so, the bible can be interpreted in many different ways.
Why would he discriminate and hate one in every ten of his children for just being LGBT? Wasn't he the one who created all of us according to Christianity? He clearly can set up a person's brain, then why would he set up a person's brain to be LGBT, so they can be hated by him? Makes no sense whatsoever. I know that many others agree with you, but what are you going to do? Deny around 400 million people marriage rights? Make those people angry? Even so, do you think banning Gay marriage will last forever? More and more people will try to push Gay marriage until it's passed. More and more straight people are adjusting to the LGBT community, and the number will only grow higher. What if one your kids were LGBT? Would you want to deny them of basic marriage rights too?

I'm not bisexual or gay or an atheist I'm pagan but like I said I share blood's thoughts on this. I have family and friends who are bi or gay and I don't like them any less for it.

Old testament's a joke. Incest is alright in the eyes of god, but not homosexuality. Apparently.
And I'd hope we'd moved on from a book that is over 2000 years old.

Yo, how do you think it's going? He started off as a big shot but how well is he doing his job so far? Personally I think he's doing alright but people will probably lose faith in him more and more as time progresses because people want to see change and things and if they can't see it then as far as people are concerned the president is not holding up his word and he fails. :\ |
Ahh, the age-old presidential debates; one would think we passed the preliminary mudslinging political race in the primaries, or, at most, the physical elections, but it seems criticism of such asinine details take hold throughout the president's term. Really, it serves to baffle me to no end as to how anyone bothers to criticise Obama for the lack of action he has taken in when he's yet to be even halfway through his term; given the stagnant state of affairs, expectation of advancement is relatively silly considering there is no immediate urgency for him to act on (a factor, which, interestingly enough, has been the only stimulant for Presidents to do something even remotely useful for the first half of their term; the situations of AJ, FDR and Reagan come into mind). Those with silly expectations receive less than satisfactory results.
QUOTE |
First off, he has lied about almost everything he ran for in the first place and his policies have made people in my state lose more jobs than gain jobs. I think he's just another politician - in for the power, not the people. We need to find someone honest and someone who isn't in it for the "lulz." |
Pray tell, what exactly has he forgone in his campaign promises? As far as I can realise, the main stipendable facts, i.e. ecological policies, improving political appearances and removal of the overly retarded tax cuts for higher incomes are still intact or otherwise in the process of being accomplished.
QUOTE |
I think this health care reform shit is about to make him lose all credibility. He said he'd raise taxes only on the high class and lower taxes for the rest, but this billl raises taxes on ALL groups, and the fact of the matter is that higher class ppl will benefit from this bill more anyway. The way it works is once its signed in taxes will go up but no one will see benefits for years, as the initial 2 years are to save up the money to actually give universal health care, so we citizens will pay more taxes for something we won't get for a few years. |
Uhh, not quite; if you'd actually READ the 2008 accords, Obama's main tax policies had nothing to do with the reduction of taxes for the lower class, merely the removal of the Bush administration's bend-over policies of sleeping with big oil and tobacco via tax cuts for any high-income household. Naturally, one would presume that to see benefits for any socialist doctrine (inb4 standard McCarthyist BURN THAT HIPPYTCOMMUNISTNAZIJEW), one would need to support it with socialist economic policy in the erasure of the majority of wealth through the private sector and reworking the macroindustrial scale, by in large. Now, of course, yes, no household enjoys any added expenses at any time, but being done so for the sake of universal health coverage rather than leaving a death panel reigned by Pharamaceutical companies seems a rather fair exchange.
Although, to be fair, expecting anything on grounds of fairness from the majority of the north american population is, of course, silly, as exemplified:
QUOTE |
If he did that last thing, I'd truly consider his term the worst American President. I don't see it happening though, there's too many conservative people who don't want it legalized (including myself, but not being in America prevents my vote from counting.) Also, I'd truly consider him the antichrist/devil too. |
and, of course, it's surrounding sequel of:
QUOTE |
In many religions, it's seen as sinful/unlawful. Since most modern law systems use the ten commandments and the code of hammurabi as the basis of laws, many people feel it should not be legalized. I know I can't stop homosexual people from feeling that way, but it's not natural, nor the way God intended. I understand there's supposed to be a separation of Church and State in the US, but even still, the side that wants it illegal is too strong, and I don't think it'd be wise for Obama to try and push for it. He'd end up being assassinated by someone for being too 'socialist' and yes I am referring to redneck/southerners who don't entirely understand what that is, yet view it in a derogatory light anyways. |
You know, Dan, this is normally when I would make the remark of being ashamed at having you as a fellow Canadian. Then, I remember that you live in Saskatchewan.

I think Obama is trying his best at getting things done ie election promises. But it's hard to get things done well you are being roadblocked every step of the way. Then people say that he doesn't get anything done and then his reputation goes down the drain by midterm elections and losses his grip on getting anything done.
The Health Care Bill
Video: This is what I think of the health care bill.
Although its not my video or opinion, I agree with him.

Obama's Presidency:
I really dislike the guy. He promises miracles pretty much and doesn't even seem to try hard enough to make any true. The only so called 'change' we've seen was the health care bill from hell. Forcing people to get health insurance when no one will be able to afford it and if they don't get health insurance, then they punish them heavily even though they can't afford it. Also the government can't 'force' the citizens to do anything unless in times of war or crisis for example during the Civil War or the Draft. Forcing everyone to get health care is denial of our civil liberties granted to us by the Constitution. Also I hate how he denies he's part white at all. Also 99% of the Blacks of America voted for him. Tell you something? They thought he was a savior and only voted for him because he's black and that's really looking like it now. Since they know who he actually is from the health care bill, not a glory trip with magical unicorns and rainbows.

Bush helped the US get over a Terrorist attack. What has Obama done other than the health bill that denies Americans of their rights. Oh that's right, nothing.
