Yes, I know Bryndis' palette for her battle sprite is wonky. Been meaning to fix it but haven't gotten around to it. As for the light blue in Valeri's face, guess I had a few issues importing her portrait. I did that one the old way, so any stray colors were likely caused by errors recoloring the sprite to fit the palette I was using in TLP. I should have an easy time fixing that, however. And yes, there's a female heavy cast. Neglected to mention that in the first post of the topic. XD I wanted to reverse the usual balance of male characters to female characters... If you don't like the female heavy cast, I'm sorry. |
Hmm alright then, just wanted to mention it just in case

Good luck with editing it.
I don't exactly mind that most are female and all but it is pretty weird

50/50 would be better or if you have like 31 chars the 16 girls 15 boys.
But it's still good !
I will continue to play sooner or later but not right now.

I heard heard about this hack since before I started learning to hack, so it is awesome to see that there is finally a patch out. Not only it should work as a landmark to the FE hacking community, but also as a proof that determination and love for the finished product even before it is done can take you far. ^__^
And my only...well, not "complaint", more like comment, lies in the cast. It seems more heavily biased towards females than any other FE was towards males. Even though, unlike most FEs, which have a (debatable, I admit) gender balance of "Date-able" males and females, having the remaining males to have bad looks or some sort of funny and/or different characteristic that makes them feel "peculiar", most people here in this hack are 15-30 years old, good looking females. Not saying it is a bad thing, but... It strikes to me like (ironically) a fan-game.

To be more fair, and a true spin in the gender balance in FEs, I would expect more Niimes and Vaidas, to say the least.
Other than that, keep 'em coming!

As for the maps; yes, I do make them myself. I basically do absolutely all the work for this hack. XD

Using Event Assembler right? Going to make this hack even more epic. Just don't overdo it, trust me when I say events can get tedious and if you spend too much time on them it'll be harder to finish.

And it is always exciting to hear about custom events... So far it is one of the most epic hacks of the community, and I am not just limiting myself to FE8 hacks no. Just with this hack you have a reputation which comes before you, I personally find it it to be so. ^__^

Comments on Gameplay - Run-on sentence, Bellona x Warren convo - She sure does wrap up that thing fast... - Isn't Brenna a Princess or am I misunderstanding? Shouldn't Ann address her properly? - Run-on sentence in Bellona x Ann conversation right before Prologue chapter starts - "Oh, look! Royalty!" doesn't seem too realistic but very funny - I like the crit boost. Wooping people is fun. - Gorge has a generic palette. ![]() - lol@death quote, and that boss was easy. It is prologue though. - At this point I'm losing the little interest I had in mentioning grammatical errors and script suggestions, I'm just going to play and mention more gameplay related stuff. - LOL CHUBBY BOSS WEEE - It's a mercenary but it says "Frelian" ![]() - WayTon, funny name - I like the battle palettes a lot. - I don't like how the Queen looks at all, the other portraits are much better IMO. - Forgot to mention this before, all the World Map stuff is the same as before, bleh. - Up to beginning of chapter 3 right now. |

In response to some of your comments:
I'll look into the script stuff... Just keep in mind that I'm not going for perfect, and I'm not going for realistic in certain regards. (I'm not exactly a stellar writer anyway. XP)
Yeah, Gorge has a generic palette, so does some of the other bosses. That will be fixed some point before the final version.
Certain NPC/Generic Enemy units have incomplete names and/or descriptions... That mercenary just happens to be one of them. >.<
I had said on the post I made about releasing the demo that the World Map stuff was the same, just saying.
Anywho, I hope you're enjoying and will continue to enjoy, and hopefully I can work out some of the flaws soon enough.

As for script, if you aren't looking for an exceptional script I would just let it pass. It's pretty good in most regards anyway.
The NPC/Enemy name/description thing should be fixed at some point, and I'd make palettes for most bosses but that bandit boss probably doesn't matter, I mean in the end they all die a boring death.
I was enjoying and next week I will continue to enjoy but for this week I think my time is running out XP

The other official announcement I shall make is that there is a third Lord being included in the game, I'm not going to show them off yet, but I will show you a character that joins in the same chapter:

That's only a small teaser of things to come, there's more, including a 100% custom animation for that third Lord, and the first non-Lord character with a class specializing in axes.
Just wanted to give you all something to talk/think about while I'm working. At some point I will reveal the third Lord, but not at this time.

On a side note, making another unit cause game over when they die isn't that hard... :\

It's a lot easier than cox21 is suggesting. All you need is the Death Quote Editor Nightmare Module for whatever game you're editing, and the knowledge that 0x65 is the game over event. (Oh wait, even if you didn't before, you know now.)
Find your character's death quote, and replace the value of Event ID to be 0x65. That causes the game to call the game over event when it calls that death quote. (Note: As far as I'm aware, Event ID is "Trigger ID" in the FE7 Death Quote Editors) Make sure if they have any additional death quotes (like a death quote for a specific chapter) that you also edit that one to have Event ID 0x65 (unless you want them to be able to die on that specific chapter, but not on any others. XD)
Basically, it's as simple as editing one byte per death quote.
And yeah, "Mr. New lord" is a she. XP (Yes, all three lords are female, sorry to those people who were hoping I'd offset the first two lords being female by adding a male lord. XD)
