[Hughes]

Joshua rode his dun on some dirt path, praying for something interesting. He had been on the edge of accepting the kings offer for mercenaries into his imperial army, just to do something, anything that'd put his bow to good work. As it was, the only shooting he'd been able to do were in hunting, and it really wasn't fair to those poor animals. He was a good shot and getting better, and they had no way to get back at him.

Suddenly he spotted a group of men on the path ahead, and with a grin saw that each of them were armed. *Merc's?* he wondered before kicking his horse into a trot towards them. *They've gotta know more than me, in any case.* He though before calling to them, "Hey, strangers! Any of you know where the fighting is?!" He pulled out his unstrung bow and showed it to them as he slowed to a stop near them. "I haven't been in the area for a while, not to sure what's going on."

Kraan, seeing a lone figure on the road ahead of them, spoke out. "Stop. There's a guy ahead of us." Kraan jumped off his horse and then, seeing the man was unarmed, asked "Well, well, well. Another random guy. What is your name, stranger?"

[Hughes]

"I am called Joshua Hewitt. I'm a nomad." Joshua said, displaying his unstrung bow to him in explanation. He saw the man dismount, but he felt more comfortable on his horse than on his own two feet, so he stayed in his saddle. "I'm sorry to have bothered you, but I'm looking for a battle. I need the coin, and the practice."

Victor was strolling up the road, his tow shields on his back. He was eying the woods on one side of the road, not trusting it. He pulled out his shields just in case something did pop out. Like orcs, or even worse, those Ent things from the fairy tales. Sighing uneasy he continued upon his way, wishing the forest would end soon.

((Yeah, The fairy tale is the Lord Of The Rings. And it's why he's scared of wooden things, he thinks they're going to come alive and kill him.))

Kraan replied, "Well then, Joshua, you can follow us around. Although this is more of a "Save our asses from death"job then the "kill stuff for money" job. You still want to come?" Kraan crossed his arms, waiting for a reply.

As Kraan was talking, Suoh looked at Joshua. He looked like he could be useful, especially as was the only person one had a true ranged weapon after Leona was captured. Suoh knew that the two newcomers would make up for Cecil and Leona. But as Suoh looked behind Joshua, he saw a few shadowy figures. As it came closer he saw it was an enemy mage! Behind the mage there were Ballistae, archers, and Calvary. Suoh unsheathed his swords and said, "Look."

Kraan, hearing Suoh's warning, turned and looked. There were many morphs, easily 50. "Well then Joshua, time to prove your worth in battle." Kraan smirked and spun his dagger around in his hand.

These morphs were much different then the several waves before them. They stood in a defense formation, such that a foe would have to run into the middle of the wave to start fighting. Also, when they fought, they fought to capture, not to kill. But perhaps the most interesting part of these morphs were their concealed faces. Behind their helmets showed someone the killer did not want to kill, all different. Whoever kills them, it retains that face, as if to scare all to who might be in these ranks.

The 2 ballistae started firing into the sea of treas, nearing avoiding Victor with a large wooden bolt with a steel tip. Another landed but 10 feet from Kraan entirely made of metal, hitting with a small thud.

These morphs in their little conciousnesses did not want to fight, they simply wanted to defend the area from more rebellions.

The morphs in the the small army all put their shields, creating a cross of emptyness in between the shields, including overhead.

Kraan, seeing the morphs form a defensive position, yelled over the thuds of ballistae "Urk... Retreat! These morphs can actually fight!" Kraan motioned towards the forest, and then jumped behind a tree to let loose a few knives. One of the knives killed a morph, and it fell, its helmet falling off when it hit the ground. The morph's face was Kraan himself. "Ah... They must have developed new... styles..." Kraan grimaced, then once again motioned for his friends to retreat.

Suoh knew the mage, it was Gralagin, the mage who had destroyed Serest. Gralagin was the only person who was not a morph. He pulled out a tome and said, "Blaze!" An inferno erupted, consuming everything in its path. Between this and all the other morphs, this fight was getting difficult. Suoh tried to get to the ballistea so he could quickly destroy it.

Victor stopped as a bolt landed in front of him. Albeit not needed, he jumped back to avoid it, and then noticed it was made of wood.
Letting a out a loud cry of "NOT TODAY ENTS! NOT TODAY!" he started running up the road full tilt, hoping there would be a town soon.
