I really enjoyed both, SAO II had a flashback with new scenes of SAO (YUSZ!), it was kind of dark and overall a little silly but mostly enjoyable and it just felt great, I can't wait to see more and to see if people find out Kirito's true identity as a survivor of SAO and the guy who exposed/saved both SAO and ALO (Heathcliff and Oberon being hidden masterminds of sorts and him defeating both). Well he did tell Shinon about how he killed three people but I still feel like they both don't really know/understand each other yet (I mean there was no real context to what he said and Kirito doesn't know about Shinon's past) so I'm just looking forward to when they finally get to know each other and become closer as a result
and Mahouka had some cool action and Erika <3 and it's a little slow and too much talking as usual but it's still entertaining and I'm excited to know what happens next!!!
*Fire Blazer being hyped like little kid
oh and Tokyo ESP got a little more... edgy? but actually it's missing something or maybe just not executed as well as I'd like, I don't really like it for some reason, it's kind of dark in some respects but it feels like the Professor is sort of a lame antagonist who is all cocky and stands over everyone as if though he knows everyone/everything and can't be defeated and idk all the antagonists feel kinda lame right now ><

Also caught up on Korra and I like this one, a lot better than book 2 was.

I also love how it doesn't follow the usual tropes. |
you would love this you hipster you /s
nothing to update here, Akame ga Kill! and Nozaki-kun are their usual highly enjoyable selves. And as usual I am easily entertained/have low standards. Did pick up some new comics but that is for another thread that doesn't really exist here AFAIK haha

noteworthy shows for me:
Sword Art Online II
The Irregular at Magic High School
Akame ga Kill!
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun
This week's episode order in terms of which were better might go like:
Nozaki > Akame > Mahouka > SAO II
Honestly, I thought SAO II would be amazing this week, but instead we got delayed, got more weak character development and Shinon turned total tsun and I was honestly pretty disappointed because this is not why I like SAO at all lol
Nozaki is always funny and is great in that regard. Akame ga Kill was very good but it's sort of a weird transition phase so there wasn't much intensity to the episodes, which is perfectly fine, but I think I was slightly more entertained by Nozaki (which is probably one of the top 3 shows of this season, tbh). Mahouka was good and is leading up to something bigger but I can't remember much actually happening now, so most of the "entertainment" is in everything being setup and the # of different forces sort of doing their own thing, all about to collide or something now that the climax is almost def. about to happen.
I *am* watching other shows but they're all relatively bland and generic compa-oh wait I forgot Zankyou no Terror/Terror in Resonance... that show is still great, for some reason I have a hard time remembering it exists though. >_>
Tokyo Ghoul, after reading the manga I can't help but think like the others after all: it's not just disliking it for being different or censoring a little, it honestly changes things a LOT and it loses a lot of the character and meaning in things. Not just a negligible amount either. On the other hand, Akame ga Kill is extremely faithful to the manga and the end-result is fantastic, IMO. I think Tokyo Ghoul needs to be paced way slower so they wouldn't be forced to change things so much and make it so... weird. And just bleh. It just doesn't do the manga justice, sorry. I hate to be "that guy" and it's fine if you don't know better because ignorance is bliss, but now that I know I can't enjoy it much. I couldn't even finish episode 10. >_>
EDIT: oh yeah, forgot... http://www.animenews...isode-10/.78507 SAO got a C rank, Nozaki got a B+. Though they're very different genres and such I have a hard time disagreeing with the episode reviews on a basic sense. Nozaki even had some awesome swordplay animation!

/end rant

I'm currently watching BlazBlue Alter Memory. It really rushes everything since it condenses 4 games' stories into 12 episodes. Kind of disappointed by it since I'm on episode 10 and Bang has only been in 1 episode

I... think this applies again. Mahouka might've been better, actually, but it cuts out on so many details that without them, makes the show seem much less deep and well thought-out. It can't really be helped I guess, but it's a shame when quality has to take dips due to rushing things.
Just finished Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun by the way, and oh man was it amazing. I would LOVE a sequel. In fact, my life feels kind of worthless now that the show is over. Holy crap was it good, probably the biggest surprise of every week and of the entire season. It's just a rom-com (mostly comedy) but it managed to brighten my mood pretty much every time and I really enjoy the character personalities and designs and such.
I do kind of wish Sakura would properly confess and Nozaki would properly return the feelings, but alas, it wouldn't be as much of a comedy then, haha. Still, a highly enjoyable show and totally different from all the fighting/action/bloody shows of the season.
...
Oh yeah, almost forgot: on the note of Tokyo Ghoul, which also finished, it was not that good. It tries but fails. They rushed like, about 70 chapters or so into 12 episodes while also censoring and changing a lot of things, not just cutting stuff out, and the result is a sloppily made show that doesn't hold up either on its own merits or to the original material. A shame because it had potential, but it's just not good. (I still really like the opening though, and the ending ain't bad either.)
Zankyou no Terror and Mahouka will be finishing up next week. ZnT is great and has got a lot going with some major feels, I'm so curious to see how it ends. I wish there could be somewhat of a happy ending, but it feels kind of unlikely given the overall nature of this. I just don't see them riding off into the sunset or anything like that.
Mahouka is ok, I like some of the characters and I will miss them just because it's been a long 26 episode run over many weeks, but I think I'll get over it sooner than later: the show has some good animation scenes but no super good fights (they're almost all 1-sided) and the rest is just average, sometimes less than average with some sketchy parts... yeah the more I think about it the less reason I have to miss it, there are many more better shows

On the second to last episode of Free! Eternal Summer, in which there is MUCH ENGLISH. EMPHASIS ON ENGLISH INSTEAD OF ENGRISH. LIKE HOW DO THE JAPANESE EVEN KNOW HALF OF WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE EPISODE WITHOUT JAPANESE SUBTITLES MAN. Fortunately, there was super accurate bad asian english in a flashback to alleviate this weirdness.
Need to catch up on Sengoku Basara:Judge End but it's hard to keep as much interest in it when it tries to be a serious show.
Also need to catch up on Persona 4 Golden.
Dropped JoJo forever ago(it wasn't even intentional) out of so much disinterest I forgot it was even still running.
Stopped following YGO Arc-V since it got too much filler to keep me interested, which would be typical of giant shows, but they don't show us a lot of cards that they intend to actually release, and plot is annoying to follow when I have to watch on a weekly basis.
Dropped Blade Dance of the Spirit Users (I don't remember the official title in English) because there wasn't enough of what I came for.
Dropped Rail Wars! since it wasn't having enough trains.
I find it really hard to care about Terror in Resonance's characters, and therefore never get that "OMG WHAT I HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK" feeling from it.
in contrast while the past like what
3 episodes of SAO II were mostly talking
I still get the feeling of OMG I NEED MOAR KIRITO every time
even though I should be especially uninterested in all this talking because I already know everything from reading the novels (although I don't remember every single little detail) I was too busy gawking at Kirito being dreamy for ennui to do anything about it
also I would say something about panting, sweating, half-naked Kirito in bed with Asuna
but the scene was too srs bzns for me to narrate their monologues in the scene like I do with Sinon whenever she gets the tsun going
ALSO THEY GOT THE HUGGING IN
HUGGING IS ALWAYS GOOD
WHEN ASUNA WAS IN THE HOSPITAL ROOM AND WATCHING KIRITO'S HEARTBEAT I WAS LIKE
HUG HIM
NAO
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGG
HUGS
MAKE
EVERYTHANG
BETTER
(when they involve pretty people)
HUG
HUG
HUG
HUG
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG
NO?
well
at least I have Strea to make up for it

hugs are indeed pretty cool when they involve cute people
Rail Wars! was awful, don't understand why people like it when it's so bad

now it feels like it just hit the climax or something so we'll see how this turns out in the (presumably final) episode on Thursday
also dat SAO:HF ending (I also liked Strea quite a bit, pretty much only used her and Asuna and a little bit of Klein LOL)
the rest I can't really relate to, sadly

THE BEST THING
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG
THE WORST THING
PADDING OUT CREEPY SHINKAWA BEING CREEPY
I MEAN SERIOUSLY GUYS THEY DRAGGED ON THAT SHIT FOREVER
AND THE EPISODE WOULDN'T HAVE ENDED ON A CLIFFHANGER IF THEY DIDN'T

I came because... was it Seraph that said to? pretty much just because hype, is what it boils down to. "oh this show is hyped? k I will try out and see if it lives up to it" lol

You didn't go through Hollow Area (in which you have to use a specific partner for the entire storyline)? |
??? not sure what you're talking about. I did explore a bit of the Hollow Area but I never finished it--it was too big and confusing and I didn't know how to progress any further and hated the constant wandering and wasting time beating up on the same enemies. Heck I don't think there was any story-progress on that after recruiting Philia.

SAO II was solid but the latter half of this season was kinda disappoint overall. again, it had potential but it seems like it's mostly just the same things but not too well executed and stuff.
well, I enjoyed it a lot but that's just because I'm a fan. objectively or critically speaking or w/e it's not amazing and I realize that but eh

I personally feel that Hollow Area is where the vast majority of actually good gameplay happens, and that is particularly so for people who don't care/can't read the event scenes. Aincrad floors 76-97 were just an exercise in recycling as many resources as they possibly could(and they were not particularly visually interesting resources most of the time), with even some floor bosses not having the effort put into being unique. Heathcliff has horrifyingly bad AI too.

Same things compared to what? The first season or within itself?

Things I noticed are:
Kirito doesn't get to be all melodramatic with cheesy final words and everything when he thinks he's dying. (I'm pretty sure he's also worse at fighting than in the novel here, or at least Shinkawa is better than he was. Maybe it just stands out animated though or something, it is true that Shino needed to render Shinkawa unconscious.)
They excluded the dialogue in the scene where they go meet Kikuoka, in which Shino is like "my god this place looks expensive as hell and I have no idea what any of these names on the menu mean" and Kirito is all like "this guy is using our precious taxes for things like this, knock yourself out"
The excuse for getting Shino to Dicey Cafe (explaining to Asuna that what she and her friend may have seen on video is not meant to be threatening to Kirito's relationship with Asuna) is absent.
There's not enough yuri air in the scene between Shino and Asuna.
