Saw the first Persona 3 movie. It was pretty enjoyable, though if you didn't know the game it wouldn't be as enjoyable and stuff like Tartarus aren't really explained well. Unlike the Persona 4 anime they completely axed the SL side stories and the fluff in between events. I think it works well to the movie as it allowed development of Junpei and Yukari. Kinda sad that Mitsuru and Akihiko barely got any focus but I expect that fixed in the next movie. I also liked what they did to Makoto (the pwotagonist), I found his character to be pretty interesting though he had so little lines. The beginning parts of the movie felt a little awkward especially when they have like 10-20 second scenes of Makoto by himself where nothing is said. The fights, while aren't super amazingness were animated well and paced well enough as to not overstay their welcome. The art was amazing. The movie made very good use of lighting to make the Dark Hour look eerily beautiful, the backgrounds are very detailed, and the characters were drawn well. With the music, Shoji Meguro delivers giving a great soundtrack.

Overall I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, though it ended off where nothing was really resolved at all.

8/10

Nicee that was on my to watch list. Where'd you see it?

Holy crap One-Week Friends sad.gif going to all end tomorrow, I really like this show more than I should, one of those "the whole is greater than the sum of the components" things or whatever, it's just constant feeling bad for people and hoping for a happy ending ;( it's such a simple, pure, and innocent show

It's about that week in fact, a lot of airing shows will be ending in the next couple of weeks, while a couple might keep going... pretty sure that Mahouka is still going on but pretty much everything else I am watching will end I think

We Are All From Kawai Dormitory (Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou) is now finished

Rest assured it was pretty bad, there were some funny jokes and moments here and there (think Seitokai Yakuindomo but a little less hardcore and with some actual poor attempts at plot/character development) but it was mostly boring, predictable and just... bad.

Don't suggest it unless you're into that genre. I was going to stop a couple episodes in but kept through because I'm stubborn and like to try to see things to the end (also I was bored and having one bad show makes a good contrast against the other better shows airing, haha). It was pretty much the same in terms of enjoyability throughout the 12 episodes. *shrug*

I think the next show to end is One-Week Friends on Sunday, oh man that is going to be so sad ;( I can feel it already

One-Week Friends was amazing, but is now over

No Game No Life was disturbing but that aside was amazing and surpassed my expectations and is now over

Black Bullet will be over soon, leaving only Mahouka from the spring season (a show that despite it's flaws is enjoyable...... it's got high animation quality and an amazing opening and these probably make the show seem far better than it actually is lol)

and then the new season will start of which only SAO II really sticks out to me (just because I am an SAO fan really XP not gonna lie haha)

Uninhabited Planet Survive

On episode 33/52

It's a pretty great show, really loving it so far. It's got some of the best music that fits it's scenes I've ever seen/heard, and in some parts is really creepy.

Also catching up on some stuff from the Spring season while waiting for the Summer Season to begin.

EPISODE 1 OF SWORD ART ONLINE II

TEN THOUSAND BEAMS OF PURE AWESOME IN ALL DIRECTIONS

GO WATCH IT

NAO

(for the record the episode itself has a lot of meh points because exposition which is pretty much the way I felt seeing it the first time in the novel, but the second episode should start getting to the main course)

It almost goes without saying that I loved the first episode of SAO II. I mean I knew that unless it was a total new direction/a total flop I'd like it, haha. The opening is awesome and in general the animation is VERY well done and I'm really interested to see more.

Mahouka is just ok, too much talking, action should happen soon but I hope it's not lazily animated or rushed by/it better be worth the wait

I dropped Fairy Tail because it's terrible, it just got so bad that I like, couldn't handle it anymore. They even changed the opening already and it's not as good as the last one so... no. Screw this, even I can only put up with so much crap.

As for One Piece, it was actually animated kinda nicely today (???) but it's still not as good as the manga (mainly in terms of execution etc.) so eh, it's just like a time-killer...

tl;dr only SAO II has really got my interest now that everything else is either not being cool or not airing anymore :\

The opening is really hit and miss with the visuals on SAO II for me.

One thing about it is that it's very spoilery, and while there are some moments with the right kind of awesome, at other points it seems kind of lazily done for an anime that normally looks expensive to make, without having a creative way of presenting it like the first ending.

The imagined CG bullet was also really cheesy, though I suppose better it's there than not.

Heard really mixed things about SAO as a whole...namely it's pseudo-harem elements are pretty hit and miss. (edit - turns out I can't spell late at night)

Wrapped up Boogiepop Phantom. Review in sig ("really positive if you're into the elements it introduces" is a quick summary).

I kind of phased out again after Psycho-Pass...at least there are anime that look interesting unlike the 2010-2012 lull for me.

What do users here think of Tokyo Ghoul? It looks okay but I can't say I'd want to watch without recommendations.

yeah I honestly think the harem label/stereotype, like many others, is thrown onto things WAY too easily

I didn't see it as a harem at all until the video games (where they obviously were like "people love dating sims and RPGs in Japan, let's combine both into one and sell tens of thousands!"--and despite both IM and HF being trash from a gameplay perspective, they both sold... hundreds of thousands >_>)

it's not like true harems like Infinite Stratos or Walkure Romanze (not even sure if I am spelling these right, but I have heard they are definitely "harem" shows)

one thing I should mention about SAO's harem elements

the girls that are in Kirito's "harem" pretty much stop existing after they get their arc or episode except in minor scenes (where they often don't do much either...they're like background decoration)

although this also applies to his dude friends like Agil and Klein

the only ones that actually recur are his wife and child

Doesn't that sort of make it worse? Those girls pretty much were just made to become a part of Kirito's harem and nothing else, they don't serve any other function. And Klein is just wasted potential.

This is so fucking wrong that I can come up with no other reasoning for such twisted "logic" besides you are a troll or a spiteful bastard tongue.gif

No wait, I thought of something

maybe you actually really LIKE harems and weird pairings and other shit and that's why you always see it in things even when it's not there

unlike your impure mind I saw plot, character building, and relationship building

the problem is with you, Cero, not the anime. the proof is in the pudding (sic) (I realize this doesn't make sense)

SWORD ART ONLINE II

EPISODE 2

I AM VERY DISAPPOINT

LONG HAIR KIRITO WHERE

GUN BATTLE TOOK FOREVA

LONG HAIR KIRITO WHERE

SCENE IRRELEVANT TO THE NOVELS SHOWING UP (the last part with Silica and Lisbeth and Leafa, I guess they really did answer to the DEBAN meme)

LONG HAIR KIRITO

WHEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

but at least I got some extra blue asuna in compensation

totally didn't expect the ending song to be like that

Didn't expect anything from the ending song

admittedly I didn't expect the fight to take that long but it was a really well animated fight and I enjoyed watching it so no complaints

The opening is as awesome as ever

in general I am just really enjoying this and can't wait for more tongue.gif wish I could see more Asuna but oh well, we probably won't see much of her in this arc after next episode is my guess (could be wrong though, haven't read the VN)

gotta keep expectations realistic no more Klein and Egil QQ
