so plain. what is that background even from/referencing? also what's that Kill la Kill thing, lol.
I'd share my background but it's not really interesting, just a different background on rotation and I don't feel like sharing this one. maybe if I weren't so picky about backgrounds I could download more and therefore have more nice backgrounds to show people, but nope.

I have to wait until October for two cards to be released but it's mostly done.

The cards and characters are from Cardfight!! Vanguard, a trading card game which, due to its simple and streamlined rules, limitations on deckbuilding, and luck-based core factors that can potentially give anyone that isn't being completely dumb wins regardless of the opponent, is highly accessible to casual players. I was actually going to talk about it later on because this year they will be releasing Cardfight!! Online, which will allow people to play it even if they can't find anyone to play the physical card game with in real life, but how much I promote that will depend on how well they actually design the program. They have shown extremely little of how it works as-is, so you can't really make much of an impression of it. The anime does a pretty decent job at explaining the game in its tutorial episodes.

ahhh, I see. I have heard of the anime, funnily enough, haha. doesn't seem like my kind of thing but I can appreciate a game that is simple and easy to get into but still fun
I know there's at least a few fans of card games here (I used to be into Pokemon and Yugioh but that was ages ago) so if that online version is any good, it's probably worth it to make a thread and see if anyone's interested XP

Xenoblade Chronicles X is so beautiful. Not simply in the "high-quality graphics" but just like... the atmosphere and ambience and colors of the world make it look so beautiful. I see other open-world games and they seem to be following these cliches of a sunset off a cliff or near an ocean, looking above down on a wide landscape, and to me this doesn't really impress me at all, because I like for there to be something to DO in my open world, I like for their to be lots of different landforms or structures or creatures or whatever. just having a big world doesn't mean crap, and it's also part of why a lot of potentially impressive/high-budget games are kinda falling off my radar... I really need an open world to be as quality as a small world throughout. just quantity isn't enough. I want something truly beautiful.
if you want a weird analogy, it's kind of like how a big butt isn't necessarily sexy. in fact it could be really ugly. but with the right curve, proportions, and sway, that big butt can be something much more. so, just being big doesn't make it better. *shot*

Overkill wallpapers that you can barely read text on are the best wallpapers.

I usually prefer my desktop images to not be specifically full/distracting, and I also seem to prefer SPACE.
This is an image I found somewhere... Don't remember where. Usually I either have this or NGC 1232 as my desktop wallpaper.
and yes I still use 1024x768 screen resolution.

does...does your computer use a CRT monitor?
Anyway I revised my wallpaper above into this...makes me sad that I can't include as many characters (since the reason I use these kinds of wallpapers is to put my favorites on display) but I have all the essentials in at least.
dat gender ratio tho.

@Blue Leafeon that's um... very interesting or unique
seriously, what is your computer even like, I kinda wanna see, lol. that resolution is just so retro =P (not a bad thing, just sayin' )
@Merc art on yours is cool, especially the chicks in the background, the style reminds me of toi8... looks very similar from what I can tell here, though I can't really be sure, haha.

Yeah, the same artist that worked on SMTxFE did the designs for the player character, main heroine, mascot, the mysterious fortune teller that appears at the beginning of the game, the most plot relevant queen and her knight commander, and a bunch of other unimportant characters nobody cares about (not sure why toi8 didn't do the artwork for the three other starter characters you get...)
At first I felt it was really weird seeing a ton of artists work on the same game, but I've gotten used to it over time since most of them follow conventions that share design similarities. All bets are off when collabs happen though, the majority of those look so out of place I can't ever get myself to field them.

@Blazer and Merc: lol
I'm using a flatscreen, but my monitor was specifically chosen to be 4-3 back when I had Windows XP and an outdated graphics card. (Widescreen monitors ended up with stretched screens and I just can't have that if I'm to do art on the computer.) I have a newer, better computer that can support widescreens now, but I can't justify running out and buying a new monitor so long as this one is still 100% functional. (I'm not one of those people who runs out and buys the newest thing just because the older one is out of style.) In fact I'm more likely to get a widescreen TV than a monitor simply because I actually AM still using CRT TV's. (I had a widescreen TV once. It kept falling over and finally broke << )

oooh, awesome! I really like toi8's work, it's just so colorful and... idk, I just really like the style. XP the other ones aren't bad too, and yeah it's kinda weird with that, like quality in FE cipher cards can be so different based on who the artist is and if one is too moe or the proportions are too weird it can just look really bad which is a shame haha
what do you mean by collabs tho?

bahaha, that's not so bad. it's a shame about your older TV, but you can probably get by for a bit longer if you're not running any high-tier games or anything even with the small screen
still, kinda funny. almost wanna see a pic of your setup. XD

It's more okay when it comes to trading card games, because it's not like you actually see them in cutscenes talking to other characters and stuff.
Collabs refer to when the game decides to collaborate with another franchise and add characters from outside the canon into their game. Since almost all cards worth using in this game are obtained through premium resources, the goal of this is of course $$$ from those that are super hyped over whatever it is they are collaborating with. However, they almost never bother to actually make new artwork for the characters they are importing.
Compare:
Original characters
Imported characters
Sometimes they fit in fairly well, like in the case of the Trails of the Cold Steel collab, but in most cases...

I've only had one instance where my 4-3 PC resolution bit me, and that's with Stardew Valley. And even then, the game would be perfectly playable if there wasn't a HORRENDOUS cursor glitch that prevents the cursor from going any further right than what you see there. I can still play the game via window manipulation and my XBox 360 controller, but meh.
As for the TV, I do get by with it since the Wii U allows for use of the Wii A/V cables and still has compatibility with 4-3 screens. I still want to get a new widescreen though.
Also, check the nonsense forum for your pic.
