Wheeee I borrowed FE:A from a friend since I'm too cheap to buy it myself and bla bla.
Aaaaanyway, for some dumb reason to maybe be a little bit active after years I've decided to post my progression and thoughts on the chapter. Gameplay-wise, not story wise cause screw that.

While I have seen a FEW videos of shadowofchaos about FE:A, I barely know anything about the game and the features and how it works. So in that aspect I'm sort of a new player. With that said, let's get to it~

This is on classic hard mode btw.

Avatar creation: Kiara (Female) Asset: Strength. Flaw: Magic. (knew I could go female mercenary so that was my goal, I did not know I would start with a magic tome too..)

Premonition: Chrom & Kiara against someone, ehh sure. Hard to really lose this one I guess, nothing special nor difficult about this.

Prologue: What's this, suddenly Chrom & Kiara suck.. but atleast I got a nice healer I suppose. I noticed that the enemies kind of hurt.. a lot. But being the first chapter it was still a bit easy and I just took my sweet time with it.

Chapter 1: Seem to be a few enemies here.. oh hey look at that, forts. Don't use Frederick and I will just take it slow and why are these enemies all moving.. oh god why. new allies hurray and I still die 4 times. Why can't I double anyone....
Ton of resets later I managed to win but seriously what the hell, that was surprisingly difficult or my luck just sucks that much.

Chapter 2: Surely this won't be as bad as the last chapter, though why do I have someone WITHOUT A WEAPON, WTF VAIKE. Well whatever, nice and slow.. and I still can't double anyone.. aaaaand my people get hit by everything, and supports don't work out. Resets once again, already. Take down a single enemy with Frederick since I would die otherwise. Stahl, Miriel and Vaike are cool and all but god why do they all die so quickly.

Haven't done chapter 3 yet, I'm taking this slow but damn my luck is either running out with FE or the early game here is just more difficult than usual.

Edit: Do note that I want to do this on my own as much as possible, so while tips are always nice, do not spoil anything for me

Yeah, Lunatic's chapters 1~4 are basically there to see if you've amazing luck. Lunatic+, however, is just a test of how many times you restart the chapter and not get enemy units who can all ORKO yo.

Also, your MU has Eliwood growths in Tactician, change classes asap.

The earlygame chapters can be tough because everything is just like LOLRUSHLOLYOUDIE. The smaller maps actually make it more difficult because you have less wiggle room. It'll get easier.

Also, you need 5 speed or higher to double enemies in this game.

Also also, hard mode has ambush reinforcements (enemies attack on the same turn they spawn).

@Bobryk: 5 speed or higher to double enemies? That's a change I didn't know.. I guess that explains a few things xD thanks for that.

Yeaaaah if you want to use some of the not-as-reliable units and get them really good I'd wait until after chapter 5 or so, though honestly it's still relatively hard to grind and stuff in hard mode compared to normal mode... if you use Fred/Chrom/Avatar early-game and take it easy/slow you shouldn't have much problem

Chapter 3~

Kellam sure is a 0 presence guy, so why is he not a thief? Well whatever, good to have some sort of tank for now. Note to self, early game sucks, don't split the team up and instead pair up every now and then. Failed two or three times by splitting up, everything is turning out fine now that I stick to one side and pair up every now and then.

Sumia is getting godly level ups.. seriously, and she can actually double enemies, LE GASP. Kiara still too good as well, Chrom needs some better level ups. Still glad that it's easy to level up healers now too, Lissa isn't falling behind.

I feel like I might be getting the hang of this game now.. or just pure luck. Whatever, chapter 3 is done and I did great~

Sidestory 1 instead of chapter 4, whatever.

Donnel seemed like a pain to keep but one kill was 60 exp so a very carefully 1 hp survival planned kill got him a level up so hurray for that.
Chrom and Sumia smashing everybody's heads in like a boss.
Thieves were annoying but the fact one tried to leave after opening one chest sure did help.

Miriel & Veika are getting pretty strong at this point, decent level ups. Kiara & Sumia would've been better off with something other than a 2-stat level up

Overall a much easier chapter with only one reset due to herp derp Sumia gets wrecked by archer.

Edit: Decided to just go ahead and beat chapter 4 too. Some sort of arena chapter is interesting but sheesh this was easy. Sumia & Chrom on the right, Vaike & Lissa in the middle to save either side, Miriel & Kiara on the left. Even Marth was easy to beat.. really not much to say about this chapter.

Chapter 5: Oh boy, wyvern knights already.. atleast they don't all move do.. they oh god why. First attempt at this chapter herp derp fail I forgot I had Ricken and Maribelle at the side sooo I sort of failed miserably due to the enemy just ganging up on them. Oops.
Few tries later, pair them up at the start and run towards the bottom side of the map while my main group tries to advance forward. What.. a.. hell that was, rng didn't like me at all and I had to use Lissa as a bait for one of the wyverns which somehow worked out.. hurray AI. The first few turns were the only problem though, after that it got so easy.

Side-Story 2: ANNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *ahem* it.. wasn't so bad of a chapter but the rng did have to work with me. Anna didn't want to dodge sh*t the first few times and it ended up badly for her, or she targets the wrong bandit while I finally arrived there with Chrom & Sumia and thus the bandit destroys the village. Another try I got so far but mistakenly put Virion in range of the boss and he died.. dammit me why?
Took me quite a few tries, but I did beat it of course. Helps to know that when I visit the village, the boss and his lackeys move towards me, bait into the forest and destroy them

Edit for chapter 6~

One of the few chapters I beat on my first try cause rng loved me in this one. Low percentage crits the first turn, saving me from a lot of damage, dodging a lot of attacks that would really hurt me. The thieves were kind of a pain with their speed but as I said, RNG saved my arse so much this chapter. Panne was also useful, seems like a fun character to have around, not overpowered or limited as the Laguz or Manakute's were in other games (atleast so far anyway :3)
I was afraid I would kill Gaius when I saw the crit chance on Chrom and the luck I had so far with it, but thank god he didn't crit and instead let Gaius live with I dunno, 10 hp or something. Get him out of there right afterwards and get the free secret book from the chest.

PS: "Marf" was useless in this one..
PSS: Sumia is still godlike, umad guys?

If you ever do Ch5 again, on hard mode and above I like to save myself the trouble and just rescue RickenBelle with the Rescue Staff (should have gotten it in paralogue 1). I very much dislike that chapter on higher difficulties.

Also, on my first playthrough my Sumia was god-like and had better strength than Chrom at one point at similar levels. It's pretty sweet how she's godly for you too. *bro fist

Remember that Ricken and Maribelle(I think it was Maribelle there) can be rescued at the same time, too. (Because pair-up makes the rescue staff move them at the same time.)

Not sure if I had Rescue staff already, but Lissa has such a low range with it anyway. And even if not, it was only a slight problem. Nothing a few resets couldn't fix xD

Chapter 7:

This could've been done in one go but nooo I had to send Miriel out on a suicide mission by pressing the wrong button asdf. In any case, a simple sort of wall while pairing up is all I really needed to do. I have to say though.. Miriel & Kiara (avatar) + Chrom & Sumia = Pure win all day every day

Also Tenebie, what was the signature you had before from? It looked familiar somehow..

Edit: After a small talk to Gyppy about the renown awards, I got myself a Second Seal through it and class-changed my Kiara from Tactician to Mercenary. Gonna miss the good ol' Miriel & Kiara magic combo and just the magic use of Kiara itself but I'll be just fine, probably.

Side-story 3: This chapter doesn't look so hard, the villagers are hardly in any danger and the enemies don't seem too strong.. wait villagers, where are you going.. why are you going towards that knight? aaaand you died.. god....
That was really my only problem here, I was unprepared for the dumb AI they had, so I failed to save them all on time. However, another attempt the villagers were godlike in dodging an 80% hit rate twice. I managed to keep them all alive instead of just one. I do wonder what in the world I need a Ladle and Log for though.

Chapter 8: Ewww desert chapter, atleast no hidden treasures this time around so that helps.. (asked someone in skype :3) Also.. Nowiiii~ oh and that Gregor dude or whatever. Thought I had to recruit them the first time I tried this soooo they got kind of low right away and I failed to save them on time afterwards xD darn Lissa and Physic staff not having enough range, or the rescue staff.

Few failed attempts later, decide to just use Cordelia & Kiara pair to go down to the bottom right village, Sumia & Chorm pair to get to the bottom left and Miriel & Gaius to get to the village on the right which worked surprisingly well.. just had to take it a few steps back instead of rushing and I managed to win just fine. I'm confused as to how Glass Sword works though, I know I used it once to insta-kill an enemy but I still have 3 uses left.. out of the 3 it originally had.

Did a character in the mercenary class use it? Mercenaries have a skill at lvl 1 called Armsthrift, which has a chance (luck x2 %) of not using a weapon use when attacking. Quite nifty.

I completely forgot about this, especially since I'm used to some sort of skill activation but I suppose it's not really an active skill and more of a passive one .

Anyway chapter 9~

Still in the desert, oh boy. This chapter looks much easier than last time.. one ally to recruit and an enemy to recruit but Sumia & Chrom combo makes that easy as hell to get to them safely. Make my way forward with the rest ever so slowly, Miriel dodging every single attack this whole chapter like a boss. Nothing much really happened gameplay-wise. The wyvern reinforcements weren't a surprise since the enemy gives it away and they really weren't much of a problem. Oh and Nowi & Frederick pair = tanky as heck.

Pretty easy chapter overall.. story-wise however.. "Marf", you arrived too late dammit. Poor Emm D:

Side-story 4: Anna the Merchant, again? She needs some saving again huh.. well let's go for it then. Better rush there with Chrom & Sumia first , while Kiara & Cordelia combo goes somewhere else to kill. Split my team up quite much here but it worked out just fine, nothing too difficult and I did get all treasures by keeping one little mage alive until I got everything. Simple chapter after the start with enemies everywhere,

Chapter 10: This chapter is just so.. sad q_q no one wants to fight, there is sad music playing and then I just slaughter everyone anyway cause I have to continue the game. Chrom & Sumia were used here to hunt down the thieves ASAP. Kiara & Cordelia + Nowi & Frederick went after one thief and the whole route right away for some nice exp. Slowly making progress, the game tells me reinforcements will show up but I have no clue where.. nor do I want to rush in so hard to kill the boss just cause I know for sure the rng hates me. And then suddenly 2 wyvern knights come and slaughter Lissa.. GG game . Second attempt I was prepared for that and managed to work my way around and win the game like a boss.

Chapter 11: oh boy, treasure and tons of enemies.. and thieves of course. Promoted units as well, gonna make this hard for me aren't you game? I still have 0 promotions at this point other than the pre-promotes like Anna & Frederick whom I only use for pairing up anyway. This was a pretty tough chapter for me since I really wanted everything and instead of teaming up on one side, I split up my team like I usually do and fail xD . Well, I only failed a few times cause someone didn't want to dodge.. or didn't even want to hit.. *sigh* my team sucks. Took me a bit of time to actually beat the chapter but whatever, I won in the end.
Chrom & Sumia apparently got married after this even though I never actually got that S rank support. Oh well, whatever.. I don't care.. I think.. probably..

Chapter 12: Oh my god why are these enemies so strong, geezus. First few attempts at this sucked cause I just rushed way too much, splitting into three groups was not a good idea. My successfull attempt however was awesome, but still took a while. At the start of this chapter I reclassed Chrom to Cavalier, promoted Lissa to Sage, promoted Miriel to Sage and kicked Vaike & Lon-qu & Gaius out of my team and added Anna, Olivia and Cherche (who joined in this chapter of course).
The promotions made it so much easier for me.. they were all pretty close to max level anyway so this just sped it up instead of promoting in the middle of a chapter. Cavalier Chrom is fun.. but low damage with lances for now, though he does have D rank now so Iron lances instead of Bronze lances atleast.

anyhow, Chrom into Cavalier? that's interesting. Did Chrom marry yet? If so, who? Also, feel free to double post, I'm betting some people read your posts but are just too lazy to respond to them haha
