General info:
Well the title sorta gives away what the hack is, I've never been able to find one of these and wanted to do it by modding fe8. I will consider moving over to fe7 though if i can't figure out the world map sprite problem. Anyway this is just sort of a suggestion box of stuff you might want to see. I have started work on it already as far as art goes, i have Ephraim's son's mug finished and i plan to call him Allanon(druid from the shannara series) and my avatar mug is also going to be featured in the game at some point. I think I want him to be the Jagen unit and his name is Acheron.

Story so far(only worked out in my head sadly):
Demon King has been resurrected by an evil wizard working with Grado and it's up to our heroes to destroy him comepletely...again? only it's not the Demon King , the Demon God is angry about the Death of his brother the Demon King and has possessed the king of Grado(i think maybe i will have this be Cormag since he's the only one that would make sense to have take over Grado as far as i can tell)and is now commanding the entirety of the nation and it's neighbor Jehanna against the rest of the world. already they have taken over Carcino and are in the middle of the Rausten conquest. The Demon God is trying to conquer the earth before anyone can rise up to defend themselves against Grado to try and keep him from being summoned to life. And that's about all I have so far.

Other stuff:
This is not going to be a complete hack with new levels or new events or anything like that. That being said it is an ambitious project to try and take on by myself. I will work on it by myself until i have the first few chapters worked out so i have something to show before i go around asking for help with spriting or hacking, but i do ask for suggestions on what i should do with characters, where the story should go, etc. All i have is the skeleton of a story and it needs some meat on those bones. I'll also put up the pictures of characters as I make them so you can critique those as I'm going through my work with them if you feel so inclined. for now I only have two ready but more will come soon.

The idea is good, albeit a bit overused. However, I do hope to see where this hack goes... Good luck!

Well for the most part i wanted to do something similar to Eirika's class. but instead of being fast and not really that strong he was going to be more of a heavily clad sword knight. Honestly I may just take eirika's animations, put more armor on and of course chage the hair so he doesn't look like a girl. Also I have an idea for Cormag's class. I'm starting to work on a battle sprite for a half-dragon soldier. I want to throw it in early game somewhere in the dialogue that Cormag was fused with his wyvern by the Demon God. Of course it'll be some time before i finish this sprite but I'll put it up for critique the second I have something relatively good to show for it. Last thing, I've decided that this game will not be featuring manakete's as a playable character. since myrhh has decided to stay at the dark forest She wouldn't be on your team till the last three chapters anyway so it wouldn't make sense for her to be a playable(Gotoh enthusiasts shut your mouths he was not good for anything but swarm). instead she will be an enemy character. I hate to do this but I will put it into the dialogue that she was possessed by the Demon God and the fight knocked her back to her senses.

Sounds good to me. But the animation for Eirika does a jump, which kinda adds on to the speed.
Just a suggestions here, but maybe you'll want to add in other classes, like the hero or ross's animations and edit them to make them fit a more custom animation. So it doesn't look like Eirika too much. And it will have it's own unique "heavy sword user idea" Roy might also be a great edit.

oh i hadn't planned on using Eirika's animation that was just the first comparison that came to mind. I might use the hero animation for the promoted class, but I want to use either Eliwood or maybe an edited myrmidon animation for the unpromoted class. Ross would be a lot of work that I'm not good enough to do honestly and i don't want to rely on other people too much when i'm just starting this thing.

You do know that Cormag joined the Frelain army right? But that doesn't matter. Just keep going.

Oh god....It's been so long since I've beaten Sacred Stones.....I feel kinda stupid but I think I'll just work something into the dialogue somewhere that hints Cormag abandoned the Frelian army and went home to Grado to rebuild his country blah blah blah storyline i'm gonna delegate to one of my friends because I'm too tired right now. On the brighter side of this whole thing I have had a few people from feef volunteer to help with mugshots, so it won't be just my sloppy stuff you get to look at. And the half-dragon battle sprite is coming along. I'm not great at those though so I will need some serious critique on it when i think it won't burn someones eyes out.

Unfortunately it's slow going. I don't have a lot of time with my ap classes, but I will be enrolling in a homeschooling program soon so that should free up some of my time

Hey guys i'm back from the land of no time cause school, my entire weekend save for a few hours has been freed up so something is gonna get done on this. I might not have much to show for it since i'm still working alone but some sort of progress is going to happen.

ok, so Dussel is the emperor of Grado, Cormag is his right-hand man and unfortunately i may not use the dragonkin thing after all, far too complicated and I don't have a better spriter than myself helping me atm. I've had people offer to help but none seemed interested in trying to make a battle sprite for that kind of thing and they can't do too much until i have everything that i want to do set in jello. Acheron is going to be the Jagen, Eirika's children are also going to be thrown in somewhere. I'm thinking one as a myrmidon and the other as a sage(I'm thinking to replace Saleh in terms of where the mage would show up and replacing Joshua for the myrmidon.) I'll be working on those two mugs today so probably by tomorrow I can put them up so you guys can tell me what you think. Last of all have re-thought my choice not to include myrhh as a playable character, she's going to be one of the tower rewards if i can figure out how to change those. sorry but she was way too overpowered and I don't plan on having this hack ridiculously easy like fe8 was. However, i am considering a beast class instead. I've been working on a sprite that's similar to ranulf but he's got gloves on that have long claws coming out of the knuckles...wolverine style. really cliche but I think it'll be nice when i finish it. And that's about all I have for you, just a progress update with nothing to show as of yet.

Yea turns out wanting to finish school early and get a job is more time consuming than it seems. Unfortunately all of my recent work has gone into unfinished mugs and story-thinking. My friend and I were throwing ideas around and somehow I decided to cut my work in half by doing an awakening type deal. I.E. demon god goes back in time to stop people from killing the demon king, future children go back to help save what's-her-face from certain death. This is just one idea we had but I like it so I figured why not ask other people?

K, now that that's out of the way I can move on to more important matters. I now think I have enough set down to start asking for volunteers. The biggest issue that comes up atm is formatting my mugs. I can't do frames for shit. So I'd love it if someone could help me out there. Also I can't figure out how to successfully edit the text with feditorADV. Not sure why but every time I change something it either breaks the rom or doesn't do anything. Any suggestions?

Guess what, I actually did something and put it into a Rom. I literally worked on this for 5 hours straight...Those 5 hours started at like 2am so it's only two chapters I've edited so far but that's not important.

Alright patch notes: Chapter 1
Gilliam and Franz removed and replaced with Acheron(mercenary) and Elena(cavalier) respectively.edits to text so Elena is Eirika's daughter, Acheron is just there to help Elena.
Chapter 2
Garcia and Hafthor(fighter) and Bjoram(Archer trainee). Since I'm on mobile the textbox is acting weird so I'll put up a screenshot of those two later. Lastly I screwed with the palette on the start menu just having fun. Also gonna put up a screenshot of that later. It'll probably be later today honestly so no worries.

Bugs: there's only two I know of. Acheron's mug is slightly too high, and when you scroll over Bjoram it shows the original trainee sprite. If anyone knows how to fix that I would greatly appreciate some input.

Messed up start screen! lol, how'd you do that? you should probably fix it, just find the palette in the original game and copy it to where the palette is now (unless you intended it to look messed-up, in which case keep it!)

'Twas meant to look messed up good sir. I literally just played around with the colors not even paying attention to what color I was changing them too. It might change again in the future depending on whether or not I feel like playing with it again, but for now this is how it stays

Ummmm...first of all...the hack needs a little...work, I mean the Text (I can help with that) needs work, everything else is great...except:
1. Who's gonna replace Joshua and his mother...remember they are essential in the storyline.
2. Who's gonna replace Callech (or how ever you spell his name) he also is essential (he has a little reunion with Joshua later on in the game as they were Mercanaries...)
3. Who replaces Dozla, Rennac and the lady they serve (I forget her name).
4: There are other people.....

You're probably wondering how this came to my mind...well, it came because I was wondering who would replace Lungdren in my hack. So I replaced him with Matthew... also I had to replace The Black Fang and all I did was just add that the Black Fang Morph's would come back and help Leila (wait, I can explain), Jaffar and Nino. You should just think about those stuff before it corrupts your whole story line.

I'm not planning on replacing influential characters like the ones you named. Joshua and his mother are safe, I think I want to keep caellach in as well because I love his character. La'Arachel I'd starting however I am replacing rennac and dozla. I would love for you to help me with text since I have absolutely no reference as to what is too much and I'm not great at creative worrying tbh, informational or argument essays are my best writing so for the most part my dialogue is going to be total crap, but the grammar will be impeccable if I actually bother to check it. If you're thinking about helping me I wouldn't hesitate to send you the most updated patch(not the one that's linked. I've finished another chapter)

I'm planning on releasing patches about 3-4 chapters at a time and since I can only work on weekends it could be two weeks before I release another patch. For example this weekend I only finished one chapter, next week I might get three done, I don't know. But I want at least 4 chapters "completed" before I put out the next patch. And you'll all be glad to hear I have people volunteering to make portraits for me so soon it won't be just my sloppy stuff you have to look at.

guess what guys, i'm still alive =) unfortunately all my lack of being here was due to my laptop being broken. had to save up for a new one(good news is i have a pretty badass laptop now...compared to my old one anyway) so long story short i lost all progress on this hack that i had finished after the last patch i put up here. i was about halfway through the game, just never uploaded anything because nobody seemed to interested in it anyway. I had planned to put up a "final" version of it when i had at least gotten through the main story. anyway i'm back down to chapter three now so i'll maybe be putting stuff up this time in case something goes horribly wrong with this new laptop. just a quick update though, i won't be doing a whole lot with it until school is out for the summer. i just don't have any time yet except the weekends and i like to play league with my friends most weekends(no other way to keep in touch with them tbh since their not in the same state as i am). anyway, i'm back and i'll be happy to put more up when i have it
