At the request of some people in the shoutbox, I made a dreadful promise to revive the roleplaying subforum with my own. Keep in mind that I may come as an over-the-top, extreme "douchefag" when it comes to being a GM as told in the past, but I'll try my best to be "lenient" with certain things (mainly just shows during the process of people making their character sheets and me critiquing it a bit).

Yes, this is medieval fantasy with Fire Emblem influences here and there.

Now, a brief introduction to the background of the roleplay as it is; this is loosely based off of an idea I had back when I was eight years old, which is now a living nightmare dream when I came to be thirteen years old, as I am writing out a tetralogy-long series that are each named a distinct season of the year to reflect the current setting and time of each individual book that is taking place.

Here are some rules that I would like you to keep in mind and follow as you go:
1) No godmodding and metagaming.
2) Use moderately acceptable grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
3) Activity is crucial for plot advancement.
4) If somehow, you incorporate romance into the roleplay, keep it toned down to PG-13.
5) No one-liner posts with little description.
6) Have fun.
7) Just so we're clear.

Onto an actual lore of the roleplay itself, I will try to keep this as brief as possible.

- The Ruler and The Killer -

Three decades previous in Year 591, the continent of Verus would be swept away by the most devastating war known in its history; the Penumbra. Beginning as a dispute between two of its mightiest powers, Zephyr and Narcissus, realization that it was something more came after King Helios Lionheart of Zephyr and a large portion of the Grand Army were routed in a failed invasion on its foe after meeting a fearsome military innovation that would change warfare forever, known as the arquebus. This "skirmish" would greatly decrease the morale of the surviving Zephyrian soldiers, giving Narcissus a twisted confidence after they had massacred Zephyr's honor and pride in besting them on the first major battle. In desperation, the young son of the slain ruler, Hyperion Lionheart, was crowned as the 26th King of Zephyr and tasked with leading the nation in and through the Penumbra in his father's stead. Only nineteen years of age and full of determination to stop Narcissus from invading his home, he sought the manpower of the other nations who peacefully avoided any interaction or involvement with the bloody fight to no avail. This led to the first few years of the Penumbra in favor of Narcissus, until Hyperion made a controversial decision that would cause more uproar than his election but would turn the tide into their favor; conscripting mercenaries. With Zephyr under constant danger of infiltration from the forces of Narcissus and widespread riots both an equal disaster, Hyperion realized that it was necessary to end the war now or his rule wouldn't last another year along with Zephyr itself. On The Other Side of the spectrum, Emperor Tyndareus Shadowthorn of Narcissus was plotting a devious way to wipe Zephyr and all of its residents from existence that involved delving into ancient dark rituals. Unaware of the danger that he exposed himself to, his soul was slowly consumed by the evil that had now been released into Verus. The skies above Narcissus darkened, and with the combined consequence in the building-up of pollution from their factory-based economy, it was now next to impossible for the poor citizens to farm. This led to a plethora of issues in Narcissus, but at the expense of Tyndareus' cruelty, he found humor at the suffering of his people. Nobody knew of his experiments, and for those who challenged his beliefs or opposed his acts, they were brutally executed in public.

- Tremors -

Reports of "strange shadowy beings" came fast to Hyperion, as well as each of the other nation's rulers. Others claimed that a sea of darkness was flooding the skies, all stating that the general direction that it came from was from the epicenter of Verus; almost directly from Atrum, the capital of Narcussus. Now edging onto the Penumbra's fifth year of 596, Hyperion would deliver a speech regarded as one of Zephyr's most historical and truest moment in all of its time since its discovery in Year 174, garnering the attention and support from the remaining belligerents Crepusculum and Sienna. Hyperion, alongside Leanne Penelope and Lane the Great, they declared their alliance as the "Valens." Selecting an able field commander was difficult, but the three decided that they would send their most experienced leader and capable fighter from each nation to lead the Valens as a triumvirate into combat. Hyperion chose a longtime friend and veteran mercenary named Ventus Maelstrom, Leanne decided on renowned Nighthawk Captain Aaron Flammaheart, and Lane selected Ovius Kristov. With morale as high as Edenhall and blessings from the Creators, the Valens effectively turned the tide of the Penumbra. Ventus would lead his forces directly into the heart of Narcissus, Aaron taking the to the north and Ovius to the south. Their plan, coordinated by Hyperion, was to push back the frontline and on a fixed date, reach and surround Atrum with the three's combined forces. The conduction of the strategy was a large success, the powerful armies of the Valens reaching the gates of Atrum in less than the planned four months after razing Narcissus' largest fortress, Terrania. With the lone nation's armies routed and Atrum Castle as the last sanctuary for any military presence, the Valens laid siege for almost another month before they managed to break through the castle walls. Met with no resistance and a deathly silent palace, sprawled throughout the halls were bloody, mutilated corpses of soldiers from the Narcissus League and Central Army as well as members of the noble family. Horrified by this sight, Ventus ordered Aaron and Ovius to direct the Valens in securing the capital and keeping watch for any enemy reinforcements while he ventured deeper into the palace by himself. As Ventus traveled deeper through the catacombs of Atrum Castle, more disturbing depictions of death and scenes of suicide became frequent. Naturally having a stronger mental capacity than an average soldier would, it was the only reason why Ventus had not gone insane from such. Reaching the last room was what shocked him the most; seeing Emperor Tyndareus Shadowthorn slitting his own throat upon Ventus' entrance. With a heavy heart and unforgettable memory of the horrors but hope for the future, he quickly left the palace announcing that the Emperor was dead on arrival and the Penumbra was officially over.

- The Strings -

With the dawning of Year 597 and the Penumbra finally coming to an end after six years of fighting, reconstruction began almost instantly. The triumvirate leading the now-disbanded Valens Union mysteriously disappeared shortly after returning to Zephyr, with many legends and tales that surface revolving around them. A ring of old Wyn wizards originating from the icy mountains of Sienna would immigrate to Narcissus, forming the Wyn Council and serving as Narcissus' government while they are in the fray with selecting the next Emperor. A nobleman by the name of Lord Vancing would buy land from Zephyr to start his own nation in Year 603 deemed "Tahra," effectively becoming the homeland of the Sanada race. Extremists from this race would also abandon their old ways, creating a new "race" called the Takeda, and form a nation based on strength named Magna Carte in Year 610. Here, two fierce rival clans called the Sabers and Blades would out-compete others and begin what is called the Magna Cartan Tribal Wars, leading the Wyn Council to ordering a land and waterlock on Magna Carte so the conflict remains only in their borders and does not spread to anywhere else in Verus. With everything almost stabilized and Year 623 around the corner, a malicious rumor raised from Zephyr begins to spread like wildfire throughout Verus that Emperor Tyndareus Shadowthorn has been resurrected by the enigmatic Wyn Council...

Moreso specifically, arquebuses; predecessors of the musket.

Occupation: Hunter and member of the military

Appearance: Dark black messy hair always looks like he just got out of bed, if it were straight it would reach his eyes but it's so messy no one ever notices. Grey eyes and yellow eyes (see central heterochromia), that give nothing away and seem kindly but change in battle to cold and harsh tone. He is bit taller than normal around 6'1, and has pale skin, despite spending so much time outside. He is also very skinny, but durable as any other person, he has more of a lean build than a bunch of muscles. He prefers black and silver clothes. Can normally be seen with a sword at his side and some arrows and bow at his back.

Personality: An oblivious idiot, has a hard time grasping the mood and is very laid back making people think he is naive. When he understands something needs to be done he reacts and does everything to the best of his ability but this rarely happens as he lives in times of peace. He finds most things come easy to him but doesn't like to admit it. Very curious and above average smart but he has no real drive in life and hopes to find something to do. He secretly hopes he never finds it as his preferred activity yet has been battle and if there is a need for it many people will suffer.

Biography: Was born into a wealthy but lower class noble family with his parents, his brother and sister, went to school and got "good" but not great grades, mostly just from lack of drive. During school he picked up hunting and realized he was quite good at it, to the point where he eventually started selling what he caught to make some extra money. When he graduated and turned 18 he joined the army hoping to find something interesting. His noble background got him promoted early to 2nd Lieutenant. He is currently being trained to move up the ranks.

Other: He likes to read, hunt and be outside doing nothing. Prefers bows to guns as they reload faster and are more accurate.

Ok so I've never done this before so I have no Idea what to do now...

To save some time, I'll just accept whatever character sheets I get unless there is clearly a visible problem with it), so you're accepted. After we get a sufficient amount of people, then I will make an IC (in-character) thread where you'll actually do the roleplaying. I'll make my character sheet either today or tomorrow, probably the latter because I'm pretty busy today.

Hunter, and shepherd; a typical farmhand.

Appearance:
Ren has jet black hair that reaches almost below his eyes and neck, leaving it unattended. Strays of violet shade blend within an exotic mixture of exquisite green eyes, looking as if hundreds of thoughts were being processed at once. The pigment of his skin is naturally tanned, appearing significantly darker given long years of his routine in hunting and training. Though not as tall as his father, Ren is not restrained from physical demands because of his mixed blood. He has the dexterity and expertise that a regular Saikan would possess, and the sharp, keen awareness of an average Sanada.

Personality:
Ren is a mildly-stoic, good-natured person of numerous aspirations and a knack for hunting. He seeks to surpass his father, known to train consistently for long amounts of time. Despite his temperate attitude, Ren struggles to formulate lasting friendships and relationships, having difficulty in trusting other people. This hints at his long term reticent bouts, only opening up his true motives to the closest people in his life like his best friend, Luther Invalesco. The separation from his mother left a gaping wound that scarred and left an empty void within his vibrant, jovial mood. He is prone to many violent tendencies, but always returns to his normal self momentarily in tranquility. Ren adopts his father's overly-zealous and loyal notions, while also portraying his early mother's gentle and solemn spirit.

Biography:
Ren Kyu Orcus was born in one of many villages in the remote tribal territory of Ura Province, Tahra. He is the son of a retired mercenary and the Shu Chieftain's daughter, the eldest of two children. Early into his childhood like any typical member of the Sanada race, he was taught the Shu clan's form of archery and how to hunt, along with basic survival skills. Despite the fact that Ren was the grandson of the chieftain and his blood ran through his veins, the traditional belief of foreigners amassing a plague upon their people drove him and his father out of Tahra and into Zephyr when he was seven years old. Now separated from his mother and younger brother, he would remain haunted for the next twelve years. Luckily from his past mercenary career, Ren's father had saved up enough Aureus to sustain for their needs, eventually moving to the small hamlet of Astra where they would begin a new life. There, his father began serving as Astra's militia captain, while Ren worked the farms alongside the son of his father's old friend, Luther Invalesco. Both of their fathers began to pass on their knowledge of combat to the two children, with the general public regarding the respectful styles as unorthodox. The two children, though resenting each other at first, grew to become best friends, constantly getting into mischief but nonetheless enjoying the rest of their lives.

Appearance:
Milos is often presented as differential from the stereotype of royalty, standing at a tall, distinct 6'3. He has an unusually large muscular build for one his age and ancestry, capable of easily outdoing a typical person in manual labor if he really tried. Milos adopts most of his facial structures from his uncle, and is barely distinguishable from his late father. He has cerulean blue eyes that seem to gleam like the sunset when looked into, and neatly-folded short blonde hair.

Personality:
Milos is a benevolent, righteous man with a big heart and solemn care for his people. His seldom quiet demeanor outstretches himself as a vigilant, brave person who is almost always engaged in activity with the aim of benefiting the lives of the people around him, resulting in his usual deprivation of sleep. Milos believes that just because he is of noble blood, it does not mean that he is "better" than those of lower class. He would give up the world and fight until his last breath to preserve the honor and security of his friends, comrades, and fellow citizens. He is completely honest, which can sometimes picture himself as one who is extremely blund and cold with their words, but has a large amount of patience and experience of being decisive while confided within his thought process. Milos knows the true evils of the world, having witnessed it first-hand as being the late son of the Corrupt Emperor, fueling his ambition on bringing that evil to justice and promoting peace for all of Verus.

Biography:
Valios "Milos" Shadowthorn is the Crown Prince of Narcissus; being the only son to the former 11th Emperor, Tyndareus Shadowthorn, and Empress Seneca Shdowthorn. Though his birth name was Valios, people other than royalty referred to him as Milos for short. He was born in Atrum Keep within the heart of Narcissus on the 217th Day of Year 600. Tyndareus, the father that he never knew of during his childhood and teenage years, had been deceased for three years since the epilogue of the Penumbra. During adolescence, Milos received the best of education and training in preparation for a special coronation ceremony from one of the Seven Archangels called the "Angel of Death," Azrael, taking Milos under his wing as his apprentice, at the request of the Empress and Wyn Council. For those years, he was ridiculed and treated badly by the other children he met throughout his life. He ignored all of the insults thrown at him about his father, how he had forsaken Narcissus during the Penumbra, rather focusing on his future. On Milos' eighteenth birthday, he as all direct descendants of the Shadowthorn bloodline were required to do was to complete an ancient trial crafted on the holy grounds of the Tower of Masada to prove his worthiness of the title as Emperor of Narcissus. From almost two decades of specialized training from Azrael, Milos managed to successfully complete this trial with flying colors, and would now be deemed as the successor of the crown. He developed a strong bond with his uncle, Jai, during this time. When things started looking good for him, everything changed in the following year when he discovered that his father, Tyndareus, was resurrected by the Wyn Council through a ritual similarly described to the ones that his mother spoke to him as a child. With mixed feelings of anguish, worriment, and anger, Milos would meet his father for the first time in his life at nineteen years old. Shortly after, the Wyn Council enacted that Tyndareus Shadowthorn would once again take his throne and relinquish his title as Emperor of Narcissus. At this time, nobody except for those who lived in Atrum Keep knew of Tyndareus' revival. With three years flying by and now Year 622, tensions began to once again grow steadily between Zephyr and Narcissus; a rumor had circulated of his father's revival. In hopes of calming the people of Verus, Milos spent the entire year traveling around the continent to speak to the public and pacify the people who believed in the rumor.

Milos has a degree of proficiency in parkour, proven to being extremely aerodynamic with the completion of the Imperial Trial.

Age and Location / Date of Birth: 19 years old, born in Runa, Crepusculum, on the 110th Day of Year 603

Race: Akanean

Profession: Agent/Warrior of Crepusculum

Appearance: Short (5'8"). Long, thin dark brown hair. Clear gold eyes. Fairly light skin. Not feeling creative, prolly gonna just make a sprite later.

Personality: Stealthy and mature, but also hasty and impatient. Slow to trust people, but keeps that trust eternally. Has a great sense of honor, but not above having fun. All in all, knows how to have a good time, but is a good soldier.

Biography: Taikada was found orphaned and raised in Runa, with his recently-deceased parents. He was raised by a middle-class Saiken/Sanadan couple who raised him to value his own honor above all, while carefully edging him away from using his skills for common thievery. Their work paid off, as he enlisted in the Crepusculum military at the minimum age of 16 and has been ascending the ranks since. His ultimate goal is to join the Nighthawks and make the most of his naturally-shortened life.

Other information: Patently bad at basic life skills (cooking, organization, laundry, etc.) to the point where he could not survive on their own. Enjoys strategic board games and is slowly becoming proficient at them. Prefers swimming for exercise.

I don't really have any limitations on the character's appearance, but nothing out of the ordinary because this is Medieval Fantasy (i.e: mechanical hybrids, and anything you'd consider modernized).

Accepted, I wish there were more people on FEShrine (let alone, more people who are actually interested in roleplaying and whatnot) so that we could have more diversity in the races and types of characters (comical ones, genuine douchebags, etc). I'll begin the IC thread after kirant finishes their CS, but I'd appreciate it if there were more people. dry.gif
I also forgot to mention that I'm going to allow people to have two or maybe even three (if you can handle it) characters at once because there'll be two "storylines" going on at once (Ren and Milios, respectively). It's completely optional, though; if we don't get any characters for Milos' storyline then I'll just have him pop up into Ren's arc. I myself will be controlling all NPCs and if I control one that is slightly more important than one but not so much as a protagonist (which I consider the characters with a CS) then I will make a CS for them.

Biography - Born and raised in Noona to a couple of wealthy materials manufacturers.  They sell the material directly to the Crepusculum military division.  As the child of the industry, she was fully expected to take control of the company.  However, she never felt comfortable with the attention associated with it: The meetings, the public talks...everything seemed to have people around her.  This miscast would have been obvious from day one, where it was obvious she loved hiding away and reading a book as oppose to meeting people.  The pressure mounted to learn the family trade as she got older.  She continued to resist, however.  Towards the age of 18, she decided to remove herself from the equation.  The decision has left her, to this day, conflicted as to whether or not she made the morally correct choice, but she hasn't relented as of yet.  As such, she spends time wander from city to city, buying and selling goods to earn money to get by. 
Other information - Proficient in combat and is able to, as the term would be, "take care of herself".  Generally arms with a short bow and a flexible combat sword (I don't know what type of weapons are allowed.  The sword that comes to mind is the balanced Chinese Jian, but if that's not possible, a thinner one handed long sword would be an equivalent (the Condottiere, made by Albion, seems to be a nice example of what I'm trying to describe)

- Has a major dislike of lying and deceit.  Not enough to draw violent reaction, but does struggle accepting someone who lied, even if it's proven to be "for your own good". 
- Is poor at communicating her own feelings and emotions.  As a result, she normally just avoids talking about it.
Biography - Born as what we'd call a "military brat", the child of one or more parents in the military, to a Pale Fang enlisted mother and a Central Army father.  When she was younger, both of them were out of the house frequently and she was taken care of by only one of them at a time.  Because the Fangs constantly needed extra help with their unconventional work with the interior and exterior of Narcissus, she pulled Karla and family around the nation.  In 610 though, Karla's mother had been found dead in Atrum, while the family had been moved a good distance from the capital.  After, her father quit the Central Army and took up a simpler mining job outside Karla's hometown of Gowa.
- As Karla grew out from this experience, she was determined to join the Central Army. With her natural aptitude and some familiar faces as parents, she had become reasonably distinguished and seems to be on the fast track to a strong career, though her lack of initiative is concerning with many of her superiors.
Other information - Prepared for the most unusual of scenarios.  When packing for an event, she looks for what could happen. 
- Not a natural chef by any means.  Her cooking is designed around caloric and vitamin efficiency, not taste.
- Is part of a heavy armour division, which would be assigned to guarding a position or straight up combat.  Consists of heavy platemail (whether or not this includes the obvious helmet is optional and contingent on the realism we want to inspire.  I personally avoid helmets as they characterize expendable characters if we can't see faces), short sword, poleaxe, and shield

Sorry for the short 2nd character, especially under the biography and personality sections- So much of it is the exposition that would occur in story...it is hard to actually express in the opening sheet.

Depends on what you mean by "other characters," whether they are NPCs or ones who are actually controlled by a person. If it's an NPC with little to no importance (a random soldier or villager perhaps), then it's fine. If it's an NPC with some significance (like a high-ranking officer, normally I will tell you if they're of this status) then I'd control them.

Most stories like so will generally give the notion that they're the typical good-guy vs bad-guy scenario, but if we manage to progress deep into the roleplay's storyline (which I can promise you that along the way many things will occur either unexpectedly or not the way you'd think it would), then you'll eventually understand. tongue.gif I'd like to say that I enjoy roleplaying a story that's driven by the characters more than one that has a set plot and "ending," which is what I'd like to aim for but if it doesn't work out then I always have that backup plan.

Generally I am flexible when it comes to this, but there are certain limits; I'll use the same examples. I am not extremely bothered if who you're wiping out isn't too important, like an average opposing soldier (even so, I still expect roleplaying involved when it comes down to it). If I hadn't promised to be somewhat lenient with things, I don't think we'd ever start the roleplay. The biography section, in my opinion, was just put there so that we can get a basic understanding of your character's past, not full and / or specific details.

Anything NPC of importance is generally not taken over by a non-GM, while on PBP RPs, some impatient players sometimes hijack another PC. I just want to confirm that that's against the rules (probably qualifies as Godmodding after I re-read your rules).

I ask because I've had scenarios where these conflict. My friends and I once kicked off a game by accidentally killing the person most important for saving the world we were in (it was my friend. He just shot everything that approached us). We went 3-4 sessions before finding out this fact (then started a new session). It sounds like you have a storyline in mind, so I'll probably just alter the character's traits to prevent this from happening. This would mostly come at a forefront if we had a character captured which would provoke certain pressure points on my characters. A couple scenarios exist where, in character, the reaction for me to RP in would be to instantly kill him. However, it might derail from the fact that you need to put in exposition from this character for some reason. That type of concern is what I'm looking at here.

Yeah, I'd deem it as godmodding.
I've ran plenty of roleplays before in the past three / four years on and off, but generally, they practically died out fast because of people disappearing randomly without saying anything.

Personality:
A comical and joyous person, Jegudiel dislikes his designated duty of carrying out the many tedious missions assigned by Gabriel. He is a bit on the lazy side, spending his "break time" drinking and sleeping. Regardless of his slacking attitude, he is on par with the other Archangels.

She is sadistic and cruel, known to use anything living as a "catalyst" for her various experiments. She is also known for her promiscuity-like motives around men to aid in the gathering, using her natural beauty and acting much like a succubus.

Barachiel, being a shape-shifter, is able to use this exclusive power to wreck havoc all around Verus. He is purely evil, relentlessly killing and killing until his thirst for blood is quenched, which grows more and more with each day. His facial expressions often strike fear into the hearts of the people, resembling various animals like a tiger.

Profession: Wandering swordsman/knight

Appearance: 5'11, slightly tanned skin, with black hair, soulless looking green eyes, weak looking build that can swing his heavy 2-handed sword as if it were a one-handed sword, and almost always seen in black plate armor.

Personality: A quiet, extremely serious soul who refuses to trust anybody, and shows very clear dislike towards the two leaders of Zephyr's army. Also adheres to the code of chivalry, looks down on the use of the arquebus.

Biography: Born in a family of wandering swords, Alex is easily mistaken for a mercenary, though really a wandering knight who protects the weak from oppression and only fights with those who are virtuous. Alex's family sent him to become a knight instead of a mercenary like his parents, so that he could tell right from wrong.
He always believes that where there is light, there is darkness, always on his guard, being the target of many assassins trying to get coin by giving the archangels his head. Defending the country of Zephyr since he was 19, Alex never turned his back on Zephyr for a second, knowing of the rumours and revelations could be a ploy of the archangels.
Darkness will reclaim what the Light had created.

I will not remove this until i beat Bloody Palace mode in DMC 3.
