Blog: http://thedreamwar.blogspot.com/
Last updated: October 11, 2012

Latest update:

It's the one year anniversary of The Dream War: The Royal Seal! To "celebrate" I'm offering a special promotion, available now through the 18th. If you haven't picked up a copy yet, now's your best chance to! Check out the details here:

http://thedreamwar.b...-turns-one.html

Thread introduction stuff:

Hey guys!

I've been getting loads of questions about the next book, so this should remedy quite a few. I bring to you:
The blog! You should click this

To those of you who enjoyed The Dream War: The Royal Seal and are anxiously awaiting the sequel, now's your chance to get some insider info!

I'll be posting excerpts and teasers as time goes on! And there's some interesting stuff on there that only visitors to the blog will find out. /incentive.

Expect excerpts (lengthy, like a full page) or teasers (short, like the back of the book or some other minor update) either weekly or biweekly. Or whenever I feel like it. Every time I update something, I'll also change the "character quote of the day" box. Yes, the name of the box implies that I change it daily but no way I'm doing that. Too lazy

And this goes without saying, but if you haven't read the first book then I wouldn't read the excerpts. I'm trying not to include spoilers, but it's tough not to when this book is a direct sequel tongue.gif

But don't worry-- whenever I change something I'll post here so you don't have to constantly keep checking the blog.

Thanks, y'all, and enjoy the blog!

You just ruin my fun. I kinda can't buy anything on eBay/Amazon/whatever that was. Plus, I'm in France, so that makes things even more complicated. And why can't you just post the first book on this forum? ;(

I have to say it, Nicky, Too many uses of "the" in your titles. tongue.gif

Why not "The Dream War: Curse of The Magi?"

@Calad Hah! I don't think posting the entire book publicly on this forum (or anywhere online, for that matter) would be a good idea tongue.gif. And yes, it's wicked expensive for people outside the U.S. It's been in a couple foreign stores/online shops (like Britain) but not much elsewhere. It's only in English, too.

@Nayr Personally I think it sounds better with a "the" at the beginning, especially when talking about the individual books and not the series as a whole.

Without a "the" makes it seem a bit too broad, too. I have nothing against leaving out "the"s but I like them for some reason.

Just my personal preference tongue.gif

What are these fabled "blue links" of which you speak? I can't find a single one... XD

I really like what you've got thus far, especially the fun facts. (If I am a little saddened that I helped Lloyd become the most favorite character... biggrin.gif) For example, I was just wondering about the title the other day; at the time, it just seemed extremely logical to assume that the Dream Siren was incredibly important, but now I know that I don't know anything yet. I'll be checking back frequently for updates on the upcoming book and stuff!

Is the second book the one you started writing first? I recall you saying something about that a while back.

Also, even the mention of your book has inspired me to start writing again. Thank you for that!

@Fish thanks! I figured the fun facts would be...well, fun for others to read. To get inside my head a tad, so to speak.
And yes, nobody really knows anything about the title. It means quite a few different things, some of which I've touched upon, most of it I haven't biggrin.gif. (I've mostly trolled with stuff like the Dream Siren-- I mean, her name is in the title of the book! She has to be important, right? Nah. Her existence is just for plot enhancement and nothing more. trolololol. And longest parenthesis ever.)

AND THOSE F**KING BLUE LINKS MAKE ME SO ANGRY. I TELL BLOGGER TO MAKE THEM BLUE BUT THEY STAY BLACK CNSACLBs

@Lancer Thanks, haha. I do use a rather blunt and straightforward, sarcastic type of humor tongue.gif

@Rujio Nope. The second one is the one I hadn't really thought about until after the first one was written. And is the hardest one to write. Trust me, it took a lot of thought to "save" this one...but it's turning out rather awesome. And hooray! I like giving people inspiration!

Also, it didn't show your post above mine until now so I had to edit in to reply to you. Weird.

If it was "Curses of the Magi," I can see why it would look broad. But using the singular "Curse" makes it sound just that, singular. "The" is optional.

Eh, decided not to go there. I really don't feel like explaining and arguing for my usage of the word "the," as that isn't this thread's purpose.

But to actually contribute something positive: Blogger tells you the "Top Traffic Sources" of your blog and "forums.feshrine.net" is #2 XD

And @ Blazer hahaha. Maybe because the second one is coming out soon(ish)?

In other news, 100 hits in a day (not counting my own)? DANG. I'll have to post a real teaser soon tongue.gif

And in more other news, I gave the blog a massive overhaul since the last time I posted. I've been messing with the design a bit, so bear with me on this!

Welp, this all seems perfectly typical to what we've come to expect from your characters. Except it's on a boat, and Tristan's sick. XD

Didn't Euwart mention that he gets seasick easily? I could've sworn he did... He seems the type to, anyhow.

@Smashed No I don't believe so. (I even searched the first book's word doc for the word seasick and couldn't find it.) But if I did then I completely forget where and when. Whoops

@Blazer I'll think about adding a hit counter. Meaning, when I figure out how to do it and make it look decent I'm still wicked new to this blogging business.

Other news: Since I updated with a teaser, I updated the "character quote of the day" box as well.

Well I just got halfway through the first book.

The dragon/cyclops/hurlock/serpent chimera was creative and unexpected.

Definitely can see where Fire Emblem and Dragon Age inspirations(The Deep Roads and the room with the dream eating demon are a bit too obvious though) are.

Euwart and Adrian kind of remind me of my dad in a few aspects. Euwart in the way my dad thinks about people in authority(like how Euwart thinks that one general is dumb,) and Adrian because my Dad was a bit of a player in his youth, and is generally pretty dedicated to his work.

Tristan, seems kinda wussy. And the whole Holy Knights thing screams Templar. tongue.gif

Lloyd, I cant help but imagine speaking with the voice of Vulpes Inculta from Fallout New Vegas.(Look him up on YT if you haven't played.)

Sigurd seems to fit the bill of the mature character of the group. But other than that, he doesn't seem much like a leader other than the occasional decision making, which is just saying yes to the advice of Adrian. He's overshadowed by Lloyd and Euwart in battle. I'm probably being a little more harsh with him cause he's supposed to be the main character, but doesn't seem to stand out yet. - I expect character development coming his way. tongue.gif

Rose and Mia - Its an interesting twist to have the main character and his bf/supporter to already be in relationships, as opposed to building them through the story. But I'm glad they didn't accompany Sig and Euwart, cause the bandit raid gave me a kind of Spritle and Chim-Chim feel with them, tagging along when its risky and dangerous.

General Beauregard, throw in a character named Lucas to play off him and you'll have a Dukes of Hazzard reference on your hands. tongue.gif

The Black Knight. . . I'm guessing if he has some semblance of his original mind left, he's probably wishing he'd stayed home with his kids. tongue.gif
