So I made a my first sig (the one below) but wasn't quite sure it was very good.
Then I made this one at school today and liked it better. So if everybody could critique them and let me know which is better and how to improve it I would greatly appreciate it.

Pretty damn big for a signature.
I assume you haven't been doing this for long...understandably, there's not a ton of blending or effects going on. If you want to continue making signatures, you should check out this thread http://forums.feshri...?showtopic=2797

In addition, the outline stuff around some of the cuts are very prominent. In the future, you should get renders from planetrenders.net OR just try to improve your cutting.
Other than that, good start, bro. Keep going.

This was my first try yea. I don't really plan to continue once this one looks solid. I used keynotes instant alpha for the cutting and I'm gonna shrink it once I get Hector in. Thanks! btw srry bout that thing in the video game first RPG topic. Dunno what the heck I was thinking

O.K. so I finally shrunk it ( happy Gold?) , however I could not successful remove Percival's horse to insert hector. Also Percival seems....well dim compared to the other characters. any suggestions on how to fix these things

Indeed, try some filters and layer options to bring out the color. I'm not so much of a GIMP expert (I hardly remember it) so you'll likely have to poke around for those tools, but I'm almost positive they're there.
