Obama's Presidency

He started off as a big shot but how well is he doing his job so far?
Personally I think he's doing alright but people will probably lose faith in him more and more as time progresses because people want to see change and things and if they can't see it then as far as people are concerned the president is not holding up his word and he fails. :\

However, my opinion is to be taken for granted.

Judging from the hooplah (lol) on November 4th, 2008, you might have thought he was Jesus Christ.
But I knew his popularity would wain once people realized he wasn't the messiah. And it has, so yeah.
He's not doing so hot, at least not enough to warrant him getting a freaking Nobel.
Like Stephen Colbert said, there should be some Nobel Peace Prize repo men.

First off, he has lied about almost everything he ran for in the first place and his policies have made people in my state lose more jobs than gain jobs. I think he's just another politician - in for the power, not the people. We need to find someone honest and someone who isn't in it for the "lulz."

I think this health care reform shit is about to make him lose all credibility. He said he'd raise taxes only on the high class and lower taxes for the rest, but this billl raises taxes on ALL groups, and the fact of the matter is that higher class ppl will benefit from this bill more anyway. The way it works is once its signed in taxes will go up but no one will see benefits for years, as the initial 2 years are to save up the money to actually give universal health care, so we citizens will pay more taxes for something we won't get for a few years.
Fact is he is not living up to all his promises. We aren't seeing the wealthy get taxed more and the average joe taxed less, which was most of what he preached during his campain, and his approval ratings are a lot lower than they were before he was in office.

Basically, Obama got a lot of overhype, mainly because he was the first black president, and will never reach the expectations he was given.

Being English, I can't comprehend the problems with state healthplan. And I love it when people called him out as a communist. What the hell does that make us in the UK? Our major parties are all more to the left than the democrats or republicans. Basically, Obama got a lot of overhype, mainly because he was the first black president, and will never reach the expectations he was given. |
Thing is he's not black but everyone says that. Claiming what a proud day it was when an african-american became president, but hes not black.

^I'm not sure if that's a joke or not, but I'm pretty sure a half African American is considered black most of the time. Anyways, the healthcare reform does have some good sides to it. It can't deny a patient of a pre-existing conditions, IIRC insurance companies can't deny a person healthcare. Anyways, I haven't looked much into it since I stopped watching a lot of the news after Obama's inauguration(spelling?). He is working to stop the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy which is nice, if he gets Gay marriage passed by the end of his term(s?) I'll consider his presidency a success. |
If he did that last thing, I'd truly consider his term the worst American President. I don't see it happening though, there's too many conservative people who don't want it legalized (including myself, but not being in America prevents my vote from counting.)
Also, I'd truly consider him the antichrist/devil too.

What's so wrong about Gay marriage? It won't affect you and one in every ten people are LGBT( I'll name the source if you want it). With about 300 million people in the US, not passing this law would be denying around 30 million people marriage in just our one country alone. Canada has passed gay marriage, Mexico has too, so why can't we? You say it's a sin, but gay marriage doesn't hurt any person, thing, or enviroment, so what's the harm?

TL;DR I don't think it's right to make it legal. That's just my opinion, it's not changing, and many people think the way I do. They throw 'political correctness' out the window so they can say what they truly feel. And there are many who are forced into maintaining neutrality to save face in the public.
Edit: Kinda going off topic, isn't there already a thread for gay marriage? Sorry. And I'm not saying this to offend, just feel it's my right to say what I believe.

Amen, Brother!

jk, No, I don't consider him the devil, but he is a liar (and maybe the devil's son, too). Looking at what the Health Care bill really is, I think that the benefits are far outweighed by the negative consequences.
I don't think that McCain would've been a much better president, though - I don't know for sure, and I wasn't all too involved with politics until recently due to the fact that I didn't turn 18 until some time after the elections

Also - I wholeheartedly agree with Soviet Comrade on the issue of Gay Marriage - it's just wrong - This is just my opinion, but I believe strongly that God meant marriage to be between man and woman. not man and man, woman and woman, or man and video game character... anyways, that's my thoughts on the matter

In many religions, it's seen as sinful/unlawful. Since most modern law systems use the ten commandments and the code of hammurabi as the basis of laws, many people feel it should not be legalized. I know I can't stop homosexual people from feeling that way, but it's not natural, nor the way God intended. I understand there's supposed to be a separation of Church and State in the US, but even still, the side that wants it illegal is too strong, and I don't think it'd be wise for Obama to try and push for it. He'd end up being assassinated by someone for being too 'socialist' and yes I am referring to redneck/southerners who don't entirely understand what that is, yet view it in a derogatory light anyways. |
Sorry, but there are people who don't believe in god, so it's sort of a null point for them. But of course, they aren't the majority. And I'm for gay marriage, I see nothing unnatural with it really, other animals form homosexual partnerships as well.

Let's face it, if we went back in time say, 60 years, he'd be classified as black.

I still don't like the health care thing. I mean right now I already have health and dental but if it passes I'll pay more taxes for what I won't get. IDC either way about gay marriage (my aunt is a lesbian so stfu) but I don't think I've heard him talk about that yet.
