Somtimes I find that the news can go over board on subjects like, Celebrity deaths, Octo-mom, Obama killing a fly, and more that I don't want to get into. I just can't wrap my head around why they put so much time into a topic and just can't leave it, it just doesn't make sence. Then I find out that solders die over seas and just get a two second pass by on the bottem alert monitor (I don't remeber the name of it). I think most of this frustration comes from CNN, and celebrity gossip shows, but once somthing happens they don't let it go untill some other big event happens, then the cycle repeats.

When I watch these new programs I just want ot find out what happens while im working or playing videogames, not just to find out how an expert can determin how the situation is going to play out months after Micheal jacksons death.

Somtimes extensive media coverage can be good like 9/11 because somthing hugh like that has to be covered in great detail to tell me what happend, how and why. Not how Jon cheated on kate (Who the hell are they anyway, I only heard of them when CNN did a story about it) and what there life is going to be like now after the fact.

Basicly my stance on over media coverage is it pisses me right off, and the fact that they don't cover more important stuff.

Now my quetsion is should the media tone down on the coverage of topics? And what pisses you off (if anything does) about the media?

As George Carlin said,
"What else bothers me? Mickey Mouse's birthday being announced on the television news as if it's an actual event! I don't give a shit! If I cared about Mickey Mouse's birthday I'd have memorized it years ago! And I'd send him a card: "Dear Mickey, Happy Birthday. Love, George." I don't do that! Why? Don't give a shit! **** Mickey Mouse. **** him in the asshole with a big rubber dick! Then break it off and beat him with the rest of it! I hope Mickey dies. I do, I hope he goddamn dies. I hope he gets hold of some tainted cheese...! And dies! Lonely and forgotten. Behind the baseboard of a soiled bathroom in a poor neighborhood... with his hand in Goofy's pants... Mickey Mouse - shit. No wonder no one in the world takes our country seriously; we waste valuable television time informing our citizens of the age of an imaginary rodent! "

Couldn't have said it better myself.

To answer your so boldly stated question, which I did not really address before, I say let the media do what they want. Television and modern man is a load of crap anyways, and there's nothing forcing you to pay attention.
Just ignore it, and get different sources for your information.

Or, if I was in a bad mood, screw them. Those capitalist pigs should burn in hell!

It's the same reason we use memes, really.

We use memes because we find them interesting and there's a chance if we use them, we become liked.

The news appeals to a different audience not much unlike the internet. If something is found amusing or interesting to the majority of Americans, you know they'll keep talking about it to obtain higher ratings.
Oh yes, it's Ghosty. <3

Ugh..Canadian media isn't perfect, but one of the reasons I really hate America is the media..what a bunch of overgrown parasites with an inflated ego..just like the majority of Americans in general. I believe Kensai says it perfectly..capitalist pigs.

I do think unimportant matters get too much airtime occasionally (Brand/Ross is one), but I'm not too worried by it, I mean, they were talking about a fish that had died in a lake last week xD

The worst part is, it's not for ratings. It's to control people. They rush matters like soldier's deaths and whatnot to keep America thinking they're loved. And then report useless crap to entertain and distract people. Just another way to manipulate people. :/

The news stations should be owned by me, so we hear a lot more about my adventures saving the universe and time.

As you can tell, all of my posts are on the same theme, but expressed different ways in accordance to my mood. smile.gif

How different it is here in the UK. It seems that there is never enough of the soldiers. Not that it's an unimportant thing to be reporting on, mind.

Not really. They just try to make everyone miserable. And people in Britain don't need controlling. They will only complain if watching footy (soccer) was outlawed. Then there'd be riots.

In control, miserable, whichever keeps the people down.

Britain would also be in riots if alcohol was outlawed. Aha.

Still the point is, the News is a load of crap. And it'll only get worse from here.

lol. xD Yes, we probably should. But it's still on topic a little, it's still relating to the news and how they take advantage of any situation in attempts on manipulating the mass public. :/ Hell, to ban alcohol and soccer in Britain they'd have to manipulate the politicians into thinking it was wanted, which isn't hard to do, but yeah.
