This is my first attempt at a fully custom sprite, she is no where near complete as you can tell and I am looking for advise and critique. I am mainly looking for advice on how to make her face as I am dreading that. ^__^;

I like your hair shading so far, but the earrings seem a bit... off. All in all, I like it so far.

I was wondering about those, Any idea how to fix them? I'm glad you like the hair so far ^__^ this is kind of tricky to do with a touch pad -__-

With a touch pad? I take it back; this just became amazing.

I would move the left (OPV) earring closer to the face and the right (again, OPV) away a bit. I dunno how much that'll help, but I think it will help at least a little bit.

Tiny bit of an update, added some more shading to the bandanna and I was wondering what I could do to improve it, any suggestions please?

Look at existing sprites and look at how they are shaded. You will hopefully soon see that it is not as simple as "pillow shading" (where one "outlines" one color with darker colors... e.g. in the hair, having the darkest colors around the hair, and the lightest colors in the middle, is NOT the right way to shade).

I can see some improvements though, keep at it.

I'm working on shading the hair now, it's no where near complete, I'm trying to use long haired sprites (like Isadora and Lucius) for reference as well as the original picture.

I wasn't going to post this yet because I don't think it looks good at all, but I figured I'd go ahead and maybe you guys would be kind enough to tell me what I'm doing wrong here... I want her to look as good as I can possibly make her so I appreciate any criticism and advice.

Bit of an update, is this looking better or worse? Used Priscilla and Ninian for reference on the mouth and nose.



Oh it's not obvious in the sprite but her hair is actually tied near the bottom as you can see in the official artwork. I still need to fix her shoulders...

Oh my, yes. A thousand times yes.

Obviously, it's not done, but you've improved it a lot. I'd go for the shoulders now while you have just about everything else looking great.

Minor update, altered the left shoulder (or would it be her right shoulder XD) Does it look better or worse? Hopefully it looks more naturally shaped than before -__-;


Edit: Worked on her other shoulder a bit as well, so better?
Edit2: Hopefully the shoulders are alright, started on her clothes, obviously got a ways to go on them

Personally, I think you need a bit more shading in the front of the hair. At the moment it looks a little bland.
