Which ROM are you talking about? FE6, FE7 or FE8?
And maybe I am just ill-informed but what exactly are strings for the editor?
Also your topic title does seem a bit demanding, but I could have interpreted it wrong if it was intended otherwise.

yeah tell us more about what's wrong because I'm not sure what's the problem here.

Or alternatively put 083A in the Input index box. The game text starts at somewhere around 0800 and moves in kinda chronological order.

I like to be able to edit something myself in a hex editor before relying on programs to do it for me.
I'm also assuming the text ins't compressed in any way, please correct me if I am mistaken on that part.

It's an odd whim of yours to want to do something "manually" first, no offense, and while I don't think it's too beneficial, you might be able to dig up the anti-huffman patch and then edit text in a hex editor. Alternatively, make an edit with FEditor Adv (which uses the anti-huffman patch anyhow) and then search for your edited text in a hex editor (it will appear uncompressed IIRC). Then find the offset (start) of that text, search for it, and figure out whatever you want to figure out...

Not too hard to do.
Fire Emblem isn't the first game I've hacked, and I'm still not fully used to using anything but a hex editor for my hacking.

Sorry to bother eveyone again but im still having problems with Fe Editor , When I change the Text and Save, when i try to load the game, It white screens ![]() |
Make sure it's a fresh, clean, unmodified ROM, also check that it is the American version, it should be Fire Emblem - 1235 (U). Also check your version of FEditor is up to date because some versions did have text-editing problems.
If you have made your own edits already what were they?

All-in-all it's not really worth it when there are perfectly good civillian/npc slots to simply edit, rather than make a new one.
To edit one you need to make your own animation and map sprite and thats really it.
