I say, why not. Muslims =/= terrorists - if that were the case Michigan would be among the most dangerous places for the US (hello - Dearborn). Anybody who is saying no due to "respect for the victims" ignores that many innocent muslims died in 9/11...
heck, its not even ON Ground Zero. I don't see what the big hubbaloo is all about.

I don't think there should be a problem over it. Not all Muslims are extremists. And what if the mosque had been there before? Would there have been people attacking it after 9/11? And if so, for what?

Well I have my utter most respect for you people as I myself am a Muslim and i see that you are aware of the fact their are good and bad people amongst every race and that labeling an entire race for the actions of only the wrong people in the world that's just wrong. I really respect people like you who defend others than themselves and I'm not saying that only because I'm a Muslim and you were defending us but to all those people who stand for what is right

I don't have any problems with it. I've read about this guy who's trying to construct the mosque, and he's made some serious efforts to bridge the gap between our cultures. He's even gone on UN diplomacy trips to try to improve relations between Islamic cultures and Western ones.
Personally, I think that all the protesters are doing a worse thing for America then the mosque ever could. Makes it seem like all Americans are stereotyped bigots. And if they're classifying this imam as an extremist, I guess we are.

Y'know what irks me? IT'S NOT EVEN A ****ING MOSQUE.
It's a community center, that has a room for Muslims to pray in. It also has a pool, a room for other religious people to pray, a gym, and entertainment rooms.
But, just because there's a room for Muslims to pray in, everyone's all "OH NO, CAN'T LET THEM THERE TERRORISTS INTO OUR COUNTRY".
I really hate ignorant people. Especially people who think they're justified by their ignorance.
I've got no problem with this center. No problem in the least, because it's for everyone. Even if it WAS just a mosque, so what? Muslims aren't one whole religion. They're multiple, and the group trying to build the center follows sikhism, and hates the Al Qaeda.
I say let them build it.

Thanks guys I really see that you all are very much supportive in this matter and finally we all agree on something I mean that's gonna go in the milestone thread i think lols but as you all know Muslims are a bit sensitive when it comes to religion so Seph I'd really appreciate it if you'd just say mosque and not use the word F***ing with it hahaha it's kinda disrespectful because actually the word Mosque mean's God's home no Offense I mean, Don't take it personally buddy but it's kinda, you know an honorable thing for us.

I'll say ****ing mosque all I want, kid. I was annoyed that people ignorantly called it a mosque, so I expressed my anger, and the words ended up next to each other. I'm not going to edit out my frustration because it makes you feel uncomfortable.

well umm, i am muslim so i will say yes for building the mosque and there are a lot of muslims there in USA and i think they wich to pray in a mosque especially in fridays( every male muslim should go to the mosque and pray) and i know that some people who lives in USA hate muslims for wrong reasons so muslims aren't feel Satisfaction there, and build a mosque will let them feel like they are in their homes. as for saying ****ing, i don't think people can just say what they want about something other people respect it even if there is this " Freedom of speech" there are also "Human Rights" and i think that some of these rights is to respect other Human's religions

Using the word ****ing next to a word is not human rights. I could say **** God, Jesus, Moses, church, Mary, Allah, Mohammed, mosques, and it'd be part of my human rights for freedom of speech. Just because you or someone else are sensitive about something doesn't mean that you should expect for everyone else to respect it.
