Battle Animation/Colors

When you're fighting an enemy she's still a Mercenary, but all of her
colors are messed up. How can i give her "normal" colors?
I'd also like to know how to simply change a character's name of my choice,
instead of giving the character a name that already exists in the game.
Thanks a bunch

If you JUST change the class then the colors will be the same and they won't fit the new class. So you have 3 options:
1. Steal someone elses colors
2. Use default colors (like blue for allies, red for enemies, and green for NPCs)
3. Hack the colors
#1 and #2 are done by going to the character editor and where it says "Unpromoted Palette" or something change it to another person OR change it to 0x00 "Generic Default Palette" or something like that.
#3 is a bit harder and you will likely need a tutorial on how to hack a character's palette.
By the way, when I say palette I mean the colors that make up something. A battle palette is made of the colors that make say, Eliwood have red hair and a blue cape.
I hope I'm not confusing you here.

For your 2nd question, use FEditor Adv. Like everything else, a link to FEditor Advance can be found on the mainsite, but you will have to register at some other forums first. http://www.feshrine..../utilities.html
FEditor can hack text, portraits, and other things. It is really easy to use and the best text editing program for Fire Emblem.
I hope I helped! Oh, and welcome to the forums!

Well you see... Every character has certain colors for them. Like Lyn has green colors and stuff for her clothing and hair. And her colors were made to be used for the Lord class, so they only work for the Lyn!Lord class. If you JUST change the class then the colors will be the same and they won't fit the new class. So you have 3 options: 1. Steal someone elses colors 2. Use default colors (like blue for allies, red for enemies, and green for NPCs) 3. ^In the Nightmare Modules, Character Editor module, there is a slot called "Character Name" and then some hex after that. For instance next to Eliwood in Nightmare it says 0x4DC. Type that into FEditor Advance and you go right to that text. All the other character names are after it too, so just use FEditor's scrolling option to find whatever names you want to change. |
Wow thanks a million (y)
Since i have your attention

another question...
For an example, i turn Lyn into a Mage.
But, she comes with an Iron Sword...
How can i give her a Fire/Thunder spell instead?
Oh yeah, and i always have to restart ALL of my text editing with Feditor.
It says: "Error Processing One or More file Streams"
So i have to load a new rom and start over.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
MacK

Just be careful, there are two kinds of Lyns, TUTORIAL Lyn and Eli/Hector mode Lyn.

"My High School girlfriend recently told me that I kiss like a stroke victim, which is weird that she has like that frame of reference you know? But you know I stopped and thought, you know, 'What would Jesus do?' so I didn't exist.
Just kidding, I took her out to dinner, ordered the bread, and told her to eat me."

I know the answer for your first question. You can go to the Chapter Unit Editor, and under the Lyn selection (there can be multiple ones) you can change the set up for it, which includes inventory, level, and, AI (for Enemies). The cool thing is, you don't have to change it every level, just the first time you see a character. Just be careful, there are two kinds of Lyns, TUTORIAL Lyn and Eli/Hector mode Lyn. |
alright thanks to everyone.

Btw, don't use the Text Editing Suite and FEditor Adv together, they just won't work. If you don't know what the Text Editing Suite is then don't worry about what i am saying now.

And her colors were made to be used for the Lord class, so they only work for the Lyn!Lord class. |
Not entirely true. When I very first started hacking I made Lyn a swordmaster and the palette fit perfectly.

On rare occasion the palettes are organized the same/in a similar way so they might not look bad, but trying to guess around like that is ridiculous and I don't even consider it a method. But you are right that sometimes one palette can work for multiple classes.
